Alani Melody Nite Enchants a Packed Audience at Kalaangann | Global TV
The 277th program of Mandd Sobhann’s Monthly Theatre Series, held at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar, on January 5, captivated the packed audience with an unforgettable musical performance by nine-year-old singing sensation Alani D’Souza. The young artist enchanted the crowd with her impressive rendition of nine songs, showcasing her remarkable talent and passion for music.
The evening began with an unveiling ceremony by Ronald Mendonca, the Chairman of Kalaangann, who revealed the banner for the upcoming Konkani play ‘Sardar Simanv,’ a production by Mandd Sobhann’s drama team, which will mark the organization’s Silver Jubilee celebrations.
Eric Ozario, Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann, then presented Alani with the ‘Gumatt’ (a traditional Konkani musical instrument), encouraging her to carry forward the rich legacy of Konkani music. Ozario also wished her success in her musical journey. Dubai-based businessman and philanthropist Vijay D’Souza had the honor of inaugurating the event by ringing the bell, setting the stage for a spectacular evening.
The stage was graced by several distinguished guests, including Mandd Sobhann office bearers Louis J Pinto, Keron Madtha, and Arun Raj Rodrigues, Viddu Uchil, and Vikas Kalakul, representing the Mandd Drama team.
Alani’s performance was the highlight of the evening. The talented young singer, accompanied by the Blue Angels Choir, captivated the audience with songs written and composed by some of the most renowned names in Konkani music, including Chafra Dcosta, Wilfy Rebimbus, Claude D’Souza, Chris Perry, Eric Ozario, Melwin Peris, and Lloyd Rego.
The performance was supported by a stellar band of musicians, led by Music Director Mavish. The band included Sachin Sequeira on drums, Jason D’Souza on lead guitar, Ashwin Correa on bass guitar, Shawn Braslin on violin, and Ashwil Colaco on keyboard. The collaboration between Alani and the talented musicians brought the audience to their feet with their dynamic and energetic performance.
Alani was trained by Shilpa Cutinha, who has played a key role in nurturing the young artist’s talent. Young singer Arvin Dcunha also joined in the performance, further enhancing the musical magic of the night. The event was beautifully compered by Roshan Kulshekar, alongside children Sanjana Mathias, Angel Cutinha, Anika D’Souza, and Shannon Dcosta, who added a youthful flair to the proceedings.
Alani’s mother, Lolita Saldanha, presented mementos to the individuals and teams who contributed to the success of the program. Her father, Ajay Glen D’Souza, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support and encouragement received throughout the event.
The evening was a resounding success, with the audience leaving Kalaangann thoroughly entertained and uplifted by the remarkable talent of young Alani D’Souza and the musical brilliance on display.
