World Mental Health Day 2025 celebrated at Snehalaya

Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Manjeshwar, celebrated the World Mental Health Day 2025 with special involvement of students from different institutions with a theme “Access to Services: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies” at Snehalaya Auditorium on Tuesday, 7th October 2025.
The days’ event was organised in a very special way artistically decorated ambience with traditional decor and attractive entrance. The programme was brightened by the presence of invited dignitaries, students, staff, and volunteers to raise awareness, foster understanding, and promote community support for mental well-being.


The event commenced with a hearty message, warm welcome note and key introduction by Mr. Clint Joseph, Head of the Clinical Department Snehalaya, followed by a soulful dance by the team snehalaya. The dignitaries invoked the spirit of inauguration by lighting the lamp, symbolizing hope, enlightenment and a collective commitment toward mental health advocacy.
Guest speakers for the day were:
• Dr. Balasubramanya K.R., Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Deralakatte
• Mr. Geo D’Silva, an acclaimed Writer, Counsellor, and an outstanding Social Worker
• Brother Joseph Crasta, Founder & Managing Trustee, Snehalaya Charitable Trust®️
• Rev. Fr. Cyril D’Souza, Chaplain, Snehalaya
• Mrs. Veena D’Souza, Deputy Administrator, Snehalaya
Mr. Geo D’ Silva addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of empathy, education, and active community engagement in promoting mental well-being. Bro. Joseph Crasta highlighted the trust’s ongoing mission of providing care, dignity, and holistic support to individuals with psychological challenges.


Following the formal proceedings, Dr. Bala Subramanya K.R. delivered an expert talk on mental health, offering valuable insights into early intervention, strategies for psychological well-being, and the importance of accessible mental health services during emergencies and crises.
The event also featured student competitions, including a quiz and reel-making activity, connected on the mental health theme. The special attraction of the event was quiz conducted by Mr. Geo D’ Silva. 6 rounds of quiz was exciting entertaining and vibrant, followed by prize distribution ceremony recognizing the efforts of participating students.
St Aloysius college, Mangalore emerged as winners in Quiz while Central University of Kerala & School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore colleges shared the second place and Peoples Co-operative Arts and Science College, Munnad college in third place.
The reel making competition was extremely interesting and Peoples Co-operative Arts and Science College, Munnad college bagged first prize , St. Aloysius College, Mangalore second and, Alvas College, Moodabidre bagged the third place.
Many spot games were played during the event, coordinated by the host.

    The event was concluded by a fellowship meal and Mr . Jeswin De Addiction Manager proposed vote of thanks, PRO Rakesh introduced the guests and Clint Joseph, Clinical Deaprtment Head compared the event.
