Sahakara Bharati Celebrates International Women’s Day, Highlights the Role of Enlightened Mothers in Family Strengthening

Mangaluru: Sahakara Bharati, in association with various women’s organizations, celebrated International Women’s Day with grandeur, honoring women achievers and emphasizing the role of mothers in shaping strong families and societies. The event was held at the district auditorium on Saturday, where several prominent personalities and community leaders gathered to commemorate the occasion.
The keynote speaker, Shailaja Pudukoli, highlighted the importance of enlightened mothers in ensuring the stability and prosperity of family systems. She stated, “A conscious and aware mother plays a key role in nurturing a healthy family structure, which eventually strengthens the society. When mothers uphold strong values, their families thrive, and so does the community.”
During the event, Bharati J. Bhat, the district coordinator of Sahakar Bharati, addressed the audience, recalling the historical contributions of women to society. She referred to the bravery and resilience of women in the past who played crucial roles in shaping cultural and social frameworks. Bhat emphasized that women possess unparalleled strength, intelligence, and determination, which, when utilized effectively, can transform society.

Honoring Women Achievers
The event also honored several women achievers from diverse fields, recognizing their contributions to society. Among those honored were Prithvi Trust’s Trustee Bolakshi Fernandes, Roshnilaya College’s former Registrar Asso. Prof. Vineetha Rai, and several other women who made significant contributions in their respective domains.
Bhat highlighted the historic role of women in fighting for social reforms, citing examples of women who courageously opposed societal injustices and laid the foundation for progressive reforms. She particularly mentioned the historic rebuilding efforts of temples and cultural sites that were destroyed in the past, applauding the determination of women leaders who spearheaded such restoration works.
A Call for Family Strengthening
Shailaja Pudukoli, in her address, emphasized that families are the building blocks of society, and the role of mothers in fostering values and discipline is paramount. She advocated for women to embrace their inner strength and actively contribute to community development.
The event also acknowledged the significant role of women in the armed forces, legislative frameworks, and economic development. Bhat mentioned the example of women like Sunita Williams in the field of space exploration, highlighting how women have continuously broken barriers in various fields.

The event was presided over by G.R. Prasad, District President of Sahakar Bharati, with key contributions from Secretary Somappa Naik, Executive Secretary Charak, Member Aravind Shetty, and several other dignitaries.
