Swachhata Hi Seva: A Shining Example of Community Service

On September 28, 2024, the NSS Unit of Nitte Institute of Professional Education (NIPE) organized a remarkable event, “Swachhata Hi Seva,” at the KSRTC Bus Stand in Bejai, Mangalore. This initiative showcased the institute’s commitment to spreading awareness about cleanliness and promoting community service.

Distinguished Guests and Participants

The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Prof. Dr. Suma Ballal, Deputy Registrar of Nitte DU, Mr. H R Kamal Kumar, Divisional Traffic Officer of KSRTC, and Mr. M G Jaya Kumar, Divisional Mechanical Engineer of KSRTC. Other notable attendees included Mr. N V Paulose, Chairman of Global TV, Lion G.K Hariprasad Rai, Zone Chairperson, Zone – 3, and Dr. Jnaneshwar Pai, Principal of NIPE.

Inspiring Speeches and Activities

The event commenced with a welcome speech by NSS Coordinator Mr. Riyaz, Assistant Professor. Prof. Dr. Suma Ballal, Deputy Registrar, Nitte DU praised NIPE’s active participation in NSS events, while Mr. H R Kamal Kumar lauded Principal Dr. Jnaneshwar Pai’s efforts in organizing impactful events. Mr. M G Jaya Kumar emphasized the importance of cleanliness awareness and its benefits to society.

Community Engagement and Environmental Initiatives

Following the stage program, a cleanliness drive was conducted at the KSRTC Bus Stand. NSS volunteers educated passengers about bus etiquette and distributed seed balls to promote afforestation. Dog feeders were also installed at the bus stand entrance, inaugurated by the guests. Additionally, volunteers engaged passengers and bystanders with fun games, fostering a sense of community and social responsibility.
