Ace Choreographer Saroj Khan is no more but her contribution to Indian culture will always be remembered. She has given a new dimension to the Sangeet & Mehndi ceremonies in weddings by composing unforgettable Didi Tera Devar… and other wedding-related dances in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna… in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge etc.
My relation with her was only 14 years old but looks like I know her from my childhood. We travelled together several times to different places in India. She visited Mangaluru several times and stayed at my place. Her aura was such that where ever she goes people pay respect by touching her feet. She was very jovial intelligent and witty. She was a perfectionist.
A wrong step of dance made her lose her temper but always ready to correct it even if it takes full one shift. How can I forget going to Delhi to receive National Award on her behalf from President of India along with Shabnamji( Her daughter-in-law) whom she sent reluctantly on my insistence only. She is no more but she will live forever through her dance compositions. I have many things to say but can only say that this time you are traveling alone without me. Please take care.
