Dr Srinivas Ramaka,Consultant Cardiologist Srinivasa Heart Centre and Chairman Srinivasa Heart Foundation received the IMA Dr K Sharan Cardiology Excellence Award at the IMANATCON 2024 being held at Hyderabad.(Engineering Staff College of India ,Gacchibouli)


Dr RV Ashokan,President IMA and other National and State functionaries and the organizing team gave the award to Dr Ramaka Srinivas in recognition of his research contributions.


Dr Srinivas Ramaka ‘s research interests include Epidemiology of Cardiovascular disease ,Ischemic heart disease in women,coronary artery disease in the young,tobacco prevention,consanguinity and congenital heart disease,left bundle branch block ,atrial fibrillation,heart failure and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
Dr Ramaka presented his research works at the World Congress of Cardiology meets,American heart Association and American College of Cardiology Middle east and Cardiological Society of India annual sessions.


His groundlevel and pioneering work on out-of-hospital cardiac arrest,The Warangal Area Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Registry(WACAR) is the first registry on out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in India.This study with Dr Vemuri S Murthy ,Associate Adjunct faculty ,University of Illinois as co-investigator and other coauthors from University of Illinois and India gave a realtime picture of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in a regional setting in India.


Dr Srinivas Ramaka initiated the ART (Awareness,Research and Training and Teaching) initiative.
He has been a faculty at various international and national conferences.


He also delivered various orations and contributed book chapters on CVD.
At the IMANATCON 2024,Dr Srinivas also delivered a talk on “Training lay public in HIgh-quality CPR and AED use-A National Campaign to Improve survival from Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest”
Dr Srinivas Ramaka initiated the National CPR Challenge campaign in 2018 and has been conducting Community CPR programs from 2009.


He impressed upon the attendees from throughout the country about the need for Community CPR training of all sections of the population and urged IMA to take it as a National campaign.He also stressed the need for installation of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in all public places and felt an advocacy initiative by IMA is needed to sensitise the govt authorities to address the issue of Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest which is an importance public health problem.He felt a collective and concerted effort is the need of the hour to implement strategies to improve survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
He demonstrated High-quality CPR and AED use using training models and also distributed pamphlets on Community CPR in English,Telugu and Hindi among the participants at the conference.
