Mangalore is a city with a difference. Mangalore is an idea, a movement, and a symbol of what human vision can achieve. From the pioneering Mangalore tiles that laid the foundation of an industry to becoming a hub for banking, education, healthcare, and IT, Mangalore has consistently shown the world how local innovations can spark global transformations.

The KRR Team, if we can identify and call them so with that name, is a shining example for what an inspired teamwork can imagine and an evidence for they can achieve the impossible with sheer dynamism and determination.

Interestingly, Global TV had inspiration and synergy with interaction with the team members at many occasions since 1995, ever prior to the inception of Global TV in 2002. We have several interesting stories to tell. Imagine, how many stories the KRR Team could share when they join together to celebrate their memories.

The Ullal Conclave is one of the Classic Memories for every Member in the KRR Team. Memory has the power to recreate history. Can we think about the Ullal Conclave once again with a renewed purpose? This is the question that we ask with the KRR Team. Many great things can happen with such an initiative.

We have gained valuable insights into the power of collaborative innovation through numerous interactions and inspiration-sharing sessions with great men and women like them. Global TV wishes to launch an unconventional campaign that celebrates the spirit of Mangalore’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Our aim is to inspire a new generation of leaders, thinkers, and change-makers who embody the Mangalorean ethos of creativity, dynamism, and collective progress.

Know our story and history a bit

Global TV was launched in the year 2002 – 2003 in this city of possibilities. As the first Internet TV in the world, it preceded YouTube almost by five years as it came like a storm and the rest is history. Today, the social media landscape is saturated with unfiltered content; 95% of which lacks the integrity of traditional journalism. Media, in its truest sense, requires an editorial backbone; a system of checks and balances with responsible editors ensuring the quality and credibility of information. YouTube while doing great things at one side with an AI intensive system is misguiding the world in moral ethics and economic ecosystem.

Human efforts are disgraced and their time is unpaid in the pretext of free space given to upload Videos. It is like you keep a store room, Godown or a warehouse open for people to keep their agriculture produce. Few of them are paid and rest are sent back with empty hands. This is not the right way. Give the men the value of their labour before their sweat is set. We as a nation failed to make media a respected platform like the IT industry or Banking Sector.

How many people are working free in these sectors? No body. Only farmers and Media people are forced to work for free in the world; particularly in India. Do we go to a hotel and have tea for free in the pretext that we know the owner of the tea shop. But we will go to a farm and take the produce and go away without paying for the sweat of the labour. We will take a book from an author and shamelessly walk away in various pretexts. ₹150/- to whatever you give for the book when pooled will make it a viable project. Thousand people not giving the same ₹150/- will steel ₹1,50,000/- from the savings of the humble author.

This is the cause of the added unemployment crisis in India!

Global TV’s vision of “One Million Resident Editors” is a transformative idea, addressing both the erosion of media standards and the alarming unemployment crisis in India. This initiative, born in Mangalore, has the potential to not only restore the dignity of media but also create a million jobs, providing meaningful careers to India’s youth. A single act of connecting people to their natives can do wonders in creating millions of opportunities for people in media space.

Mangalore is a Place with the Credentials for Movements

Throughout history of India, only a few places have had the credentials to ignite movements that reshape societies. Anand, for instance, became the birthplace of the White Revolution under the leadership of Dr. Verghese Kurien and Tribhuvandas Patel. This singular initiative transformed India into the largest producer of milk in the world, empowering millions of rural farmers and becoming a global model for cooperative success.

Mangalore, like Anand, holds a similar pedigree. Its legacy of innovation, combined with its unique ability to incubate transformative ideas, has made it a cradle for movements with far-reaching impact. Whether in banking, education, healthcare, tourism or now media and employment, Mangalore has consistently proven itself as a land of inspiration, innovation, and transformation.

Despite amazing economic growth, India’s youth face scarcity of opportunities. Career-intensive initiatives like this can tap into India’s demographic dividend, creating millions of jobs by fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

The role of Media is like the role of salt in every food. You can’t prepare any food without salt, but you cannot make it as food itself!

Media should focus on being a supporter, not a competitor. Its true purpose is to amplify the efforts of others, not to overshadow them. When media tries to become a standalone entity, it risks losing its way. By staying true to its role as a catalyst, media can help entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders succeed, rather than competing for the same spotlight.

The role of media is fundamental and universal. Everyone needs Media. Everyone responsible should be part of it. Media serves as a bridge, connecting people, ideas, and opportunities. Its strength lies in its ability to amplify voices, highlight achievements, and create platforms for dialogue for growth.

We can create opportunities for One Million Resident Editors (Minimum of 100 in every district) When we position them as facilitators of Growth.

This role is best fulfilled when media remains a facilitator. Global TV is not a competitor to anyone. We wish to stay focused on elevating others. Our Aim is to strengthen all others and position them as our essential partner in success.

When media begins to position itself as a standalone competitor, it risks diluting its purpose. Instead of being the platform that supports innovation and progress, it may find itself competing for attention. This shift undermines its credibility and erodes its essential spirit of collaboration.  Media should empower entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders, rather than overshadowing or competing with them.

By embracing its role as a shared resource, media ensures that it remains relevant and purposeful. Everyone benefits when media fosters collaboration, rather than rivalry; both within its own domain and with the enterprises it seeks to support. When media works as a unifying force, it fulfils its mission of informing, inspiring, and transforming society and enabling collective success for all.

The Future of Media and Employment

There is a need for a paradigm shift in media and employment. Loose content on platforms like YouTube has the cost of credibility. Global TV seeks participation of every responsible citizen to make a balance in Media by bringing a human intense system that is firm in upholding the principles of responsible journalism.

Media need not be a Capital Intensive Project. But Media can strengthen many of them by complementing them with additional revenue models. We should learn the art of complementing capital-intensive projects with career-intensive drives. India can easily ensure an inclusive growth between both of them.

Projects like Global TV’s One Million Resident Editors program demonstrates in simple terms about how human orientation with technology and innovation can be leveraged to transform the entire economic scenario in the country. We can create more revenue opportunities with every establishments with them spending peanuts for developing a large referral network for their own growth.

Development is all about creating more jobs. Growth is to up skill the workforce, and to promote entrepreneurship spirit into everyone’s blood. We stand firm in our vision and action and we strive to create a better future for all.

This is an invitation for the brilliant minds of Mangalore and beyond to contribute to a mission that has the potential to transform lives and societies. Like the White Revolution or the Salt Satyagraha, our initiative too is rooted in the strong belief that small, well-knit actions can spark global transformations.

Let us begin with a Uniform Change!

India’s culture of career uniforms has inadvertently perpetuated a hierarchy of dignity, with certain professions being relegated to low-profile attire. This is evident in the uniforms designed for drivers, service staff, and critical services personnel, which often lack the dignity and respect afforded to their counterparts in foreign countries. It’s time for us to rethink this approach and create uniforms that command respect and dignity, regardless of the profession.

A significant shift in this mindset could be achieved by introducing combo careers that blend multiple roles and responsibilities, with a focus on integrating media roles. For instance, a Tourism Ambassador could also serve as a Resident Editor, responsible for creating engaging content and promoting local culture through various media channels. Similarly, a Service Engineer could double as a Correspondent, sharing technical expertise and insights with a wider audience.

By combining roles in this way, we can break down the emotional barriers and foster a more integrated, dignified approach to work.

The proposed National Launch of combo careers could be a game-changer in this regard. By introducing roles like Resident Editors, Associate Editors, and Correspondents across various industries, we can create a new paradigm for career progression and professional growth. A driver, for example, could also be a Resident Manager, overseeing logistics and operations while sharing their expertise through media channels. This approach would enhance the dignity of various professions and provide a platform for individuals to develop multiple skills, explore new interests, and contribute meaningfully to society.

Empowering Role-Based Unity

Imagine you walking into a uniform store in any city and selecting an attire that reflects your desired role. Instantly, connecting with others in the city recognizes with the same attire. You are building and embodying a profession for you and many others. A uniform can become much more than just a symbol. Uniform represents a shared identity and purpose. Our vision is to create welcome spaces for the like-minded to converge and connect people of shared passions.

These gatherings will foster a sense of community and facilitate the exchange of ideas. Imagine each teams is connected with another hundred teams across India exchanging ideas and data. To amplify this movement, the Global TV platform will run mentorship programs, guiding participants through the principles of Appreciative Inquiry and its 5D Model.

Appreciative Inquiry framework will empower individuals to:

1. Discover their strengths and passions

2. Dream of a desired future

3. Design innovative solutions

4. Deliver tangible outcomes

5. Destiny – create a lasting impact

This is a transformative journey for role-based unity and collaborative innovation to redefine our career and destiny and the fabric of our society. This will empower a Million Careers when we unite in a Nationwide Movement to Boost Tourism and MSME Growth. Imagine 10 teams of 10 individuals are formed in every major city across India’s districts to promote tourism. These 100-strong Tourism Ambassadors and Guides would be empowered with combo careers, assuming roles such as Resident Managers, Associate Editors, and Correspondents.

This innovative approach would instantly create a million careers, fostering economic growth and development. To support this massive initiative, a robust infrastructure can be established, comprising Regional, Zonal, and Headquarters facilities. This will provide the necessary resources, mentorship, and facilitation for the teams to thrive. Just as a bank’s branch network is strengthened by its Head Office, Zonal Office, and Regional Offices, our initiative would provide a solid foundation for MSMEs to collaborate, grow, and flourish.

“The Magic of Seven: Unlocking Optimal Team Dynamics”
(We have published a book on this)

The Magic Seven Philosophy, adopted by Global TV, is rooted in the idea that a team of seven members is the ideal size for fostering unified thinking and effective facilitation. This principle is supported by various cognitive and social psychological theories. For instance, Miller’s Law (1956) suggests that the average person can only maintain around seven chunks of information in their working memory. Similarly, the concept of “Dunbar’s Number” (1993) proposes that humans can comfortably maintain relationships with around 150 people, with a core group of around 7-10 individuals.

When teams exceed seven members, they can become unwieldy and prone to groupthink. As the team size increases, the potential for conflicting opinions and decreased cohesion also rises. On the other hand, teams with fewer than seven members may lack the diversity of perspectives and skills necessary for effective problem-solving. By restricting teams to a maximum of seven members, Global TV encourages a balance between individual contributions and collective synergy.

The Magic Seven Philosophy is not about isolating teams, but rather about creating a nucleus of collaborative individuals who can then co-create and collaborate with other teams. By doing so, Global TV fosters a culture of innovation, creativity, and effective teamwork. As teams work together, they can leverage their collective strengths to achieve common goals, ultimately driving success and growth.
