Mothers with Daughter

Sevaashrama is a place where elderly women, once left alone and without support, are now living with smiles on their faces. They are not just residents. They are part of a family. And at the center of this family is Geetha. She has become the daughter they never had. She gives them food, medicine, and a safe place to live. But more than that, she gives them love, attention, and respect. She listens to their stories. She holds their hands. She sits with them when they feel lonely.

Geetha welcomes each person with open arms. She cares for them with the love of a daughter. In her care, the elderly do not feel forgotten. They feel valued. They feel at home. It is filled with warmth, peace, and human connection.

Geetha R. Shetty shows us that one person can bring a big change. Her story teaches us that true service begins when we choose to care deeply for others. She makes sure that no elderly person feels alone in the last years of their life.

The Beginning of a Beautiful Mission

Geetha was born on 15 October 1969 to Vittal Shetty of Yernadka Guthu and Shamala Shetty of Santhoor Hosavaklu. From a young age, she saw the pain of elderly people who had no one left to care for them. She often dreamed of building a home for them. After finishing her B. Com degree, she married Dr. G.R. Shetty. He became not only her life partner but also her partner in service. Together, they started a journey to turn her dream into a lifelong mission.

In 2013, her vision became a reality with the founding of Sevaa Bhaava Charitable Trust. Under this trust, Sevaashrama was born. It started with just one elderly woman who needed shelter. Today, it is a loving home for more than 40 senior women. Geetha has been personally caring for them for the past 12 years, offering not just food and medicine, but love, laughter, and dignity.

A Growing Family of Compassion

In 2021, Geetha opened her heart even wider. She began to support elderly men who had no one to care for them. Now, the home also shelters three elderly men. Her love does not stop at the elderly. Over the years, she has:

Adopted and educated children in need. Supported poor families in arranging their daughters’ weddings. Helped homeless people with shelter and care. She does all this quietly, without seeking attention.

A Voice for the Voiceless

Geetha’s leadership extends beyond Sevaashrama. She is an active member of Lions Club International. She served as the Charter President of the all-ladies Lions Club Nethravathi, through which she completed many community projects. She is also the President of the Human Rights Women’s Cell, where she supports women facing injustice.

Recognitions That Reflect Her Spirit

  • Geetha’s work has earned her several awards. These include:
  • Sevaa Rathna Award
  • Super Mom Award
  • Most Dedicated Social Worker
  • Best Couple of the Year (with Dr. G.R. Shetty)

Each award reflects the deep love and tireless service she offers to others. But what Geetha truly wants is not fame or recognition. She wants more people to become aware and involved.

Looking Ahead: Her Dreams for Tomorrow

Geetha continues to dream. Her dreams are not for herself. They are for the people she cares for. She wants to start a second Sevaashrama. This new home will be for elderly men who need help. She also hopes to get a transport van. This will help her team reach people in need more quickly.

She is looking for support to provide daily items. These include groceries, medicines, adult diapers, and warm clothes. These simple things bring comfort and dignity to the elderly who live under her care.

What You Can Do

Geetha’s story is not just about one woman helping others. It is a message for all of us. It reminds us that we can make a difference in someone’s life through care and kindness. Her journey shows that even small efforts can bring great change when done with love.
