Many organisations/ clubs/ associations, approched me for empoering their youth on Career Guidance. But I seldom do that, because there are umpteen eminent agencies and ‘gurus’ already transacting it.
Then, after thinking for a while, I offer them an interactive sesson on Motivational Mentoring.
To my observations, only the human animals administer Mass Training to their children. Other animals train their offspring individually. When the mother bird lays 5 eggs and all are born then mother gives individual training for flying to each chick. So also, is lion. Lion cubs are individually primed for preying.
External features of humans are not alike. No two humans have the same finger prints or, iris etc. Our Aadhaar cannot be duplicated. Yes, the individual traits, beliefs, memory, Confidence level, risk taking, personality factors and a lot more are definitely different. Then why not we think and act differently in educating our children? Let us shift our focus from Career Guidance to one to one Motivational Mentoring?

Introduction
Motivational Mentoring is not exactly coaching or teaching or tutoring or instructing or guiding or training or advising. Mentor and Mentee can be at different locations; but the relationship is based on mutual respect, reciprocal trust, confidentiality, and sensitivity. It is simply establishing a strong bond between the Mentor and Mentee for motivating, encouraging, and supporting the Mentee to identify and surface out his / her Hidden Potential, Sleeping Talent, Dormant Capability, Unknown Agility, Internal Urge, Profound Persistence and Creative Innovativeness. As a result of this the Mentee will realize that it is his / her need to scale up in career and life.
Mentor is symbolically a Google Map, that never raises its voice and yells, condemns, or castigates, us, even if we take the wrong turn? If it did, we might stop using it. Google’s sole objective is to reach us our goal. The great lesson is to help and not to blame.

Professional students, of Tier III & IV institutions, in general, MBAs and Engineering students in particular and other professional graduates / post graduates are not very serious about their campus placements, save students of top-notch institutions. Consequently, majority of them are not hired by companies from campuses especially after the pandemic seasons or the prevailing war threads.
Further, the job market is very dull, and supply is much more than demand. Also, some final year students are not as serious as their parents or the institution in getting campus placement. They prefer to do short duration courses and fall prey to job offering course rackets.
It is high time for Professional Institutions to think laterally and act enthusiastically to get hold of executive and managerial positions for their students in reputed organizations/ companies.
General Objectives
(a)To expose the professional students to the latest developments in the job market and equip them to fit themselves effectively to face the challenges
(b) To develop the ethical, moral, spiritual, mental, intellectual, emotional, communicative, and physical powers of the budding professionals, so that they will become smart, effective, passionate, emotionally matured, confident, liked and accepted by society at large.
(d) To establish a positive and long-lasting relationship with the Mentor and thereby promote character formation and humanitarian outlook in Mentees.
(e) To monitor and work diligently and cohesively to accomplish the big dream of enlisting at least a score of ethical professional Leaders and role models in the field of Civil Service, Industry, Business, Politics, Healthcare, Education, Media, ………. and other organizations/ industries year after year.
Specific Objectives
(1) To identify a Mentor for each student from among the best minds, in the business or industry, or Politics or Education or Healthcare or Media or service sector or any other field of excellence, who will inspire and energise his / her Mentee, consider him/her in the image & likeness of own children/grand-children and create in him / her positive and growth-oriented attitudes.
(2) To develop the hidden Potentials, sleeping Talents, dormant Capabilities, unknown Agility, internal Urge, profound Persistence and inert creative Innovativeness of the Mentee.
(3) To inculcate inquisitiveness and enthusiasm in the mind of Mentee for searching executive and managerial positions in his / her passionate job areas.
(4) Motivate and help the Mentee to strengthen & empower his/ her Health Quotient (HQ), Passion Quotient (PQ), Emotional Quotient (EQ), Confidence Quotient (CQ), Memory Quotient (MQ), Adversity Quotient (AQ), Empathy Quotient (EmQ), Intelligent Quotient (IQ), & Spiritual Quotient (SQ).

Believing is a driving force and the Mentee gradually realizes that he / she has enormous vigour and vitality to scale up in career and life. He/ she will soon identify his/ her SWEET SPOT – (intersection of what he/ she is passionate about and good at) – and apply for suitable and available positions, outshine in interview process, and get placed.
Mentee will understand the difference between Biodata, Personal Profile, C V and Resume. Then he/ she will master in the preparation of his / her most impressive C. V.
Also, Mentee will confidently get ready to answer all expected / anticipated / situational / stress /…questions and queries in interviews. If matters progress like this, there is likelihood that at least 10% of the Institution’s Professional students will consider Civil Service also, as their ultimate goal.
There is a vast difference between efficiency and effectiveness, also between the best candidate and right candidate. Organizations are looking for effective and right candidates.
Execution of Action Idea:
1) Form small groups of 5 to 9 professional students by themselves, from a geographical area. Better to have boys and girls in all groups in pro-rata basis.
2) Each group be given a 20/ 30 minutes awareness interactive session (even online) by an experienced expert Mentor on the “Action Idea” of Motivatonal Mentoring at the groups’ choice of time during their first semester studies.
3) This crucial session will arouse curiosity, inclination, interest, liking, desire and motivate them to know more about one to one Motivational Mentoring. Afterwards a one-to-one reciprocal communication with a chosen Mentor will guide him / her to further understand the benefits of Motivational Mentoring.
4) Identifying, selecting, and enlisting of Mentors may not be a difficult task. Many retired and working veterans, experts and experienced business leaders, Entrepreneurs, CEOs, managers in diverse leadership roles may be willing to associate with. Also, the present faculty pool of selected institution has rich connections with top leaders of various companies.
5) From a pool of identified mentors, each student can request his / her favourite mentor to help him / her identify and develop the unique hidden potential, dormant capabilities, sleeping talents, internal urge, creative innovativeness, …. and profound persistence in him / her.
Conclusion:
Mentorship programs are highly impactful as the Mentor’s impart a wealth of learning from their personal and professional experiences garnered over many years, to their Mentees.
Motivational Mentoring is a catalyst. From Mahabharata, we notice that, Arjuna’s effectiveness was due to the mentoring of Dronacharya. Motivational mentoring ensure self-discovery and this enhance self-reflection, fosters resilience, promotes the growth of mindset. Mentors share their wisdom and experience and motivate professional students, discover the solutions through guided questioning and interception. Motivational Mentoring is entirely different from coaching or advising or guiding or training or consulting or therapy. Trust is the core of mentoring. Mutual respect of Mentor & Mentee fosters a nurturing environment. Together they set goals, device strategies, and celebrate milestones of success.
Having a mentor to guide a student through a crucial period of his / her life can positively change their outlook towards life and career. More importantly, it positively benefits the Mentors too giving them a totally different perspective about the world, as they mould the lives of their Mentees.
PS: I strongly believe that students from institutions of GLOBAL TV family are definitely employable. Please note that I am not attached with any employment or recruiting organization. Because You arouserd sleeping tiger in me through your profound writeup, I am sharing this idea of Motivational Mentoring, which I believe can be converted to an actionable idea by my dear friend Paul.
As matters stand like this and uncertainty on placement prevails, it will be in the fitness of things to peruse this thoughtful proposition.
