Youth evolving | Individual leadership growth | Community-based action | Sonia Cathy Lasrado | Friends Forever International (FFI) | Global TV

Sonia Cathy Lasrado, born to Clifford and Queeni Lasrado, residents of Holy Family Anegundi Ward, received a special invitation from Friends Forever International (FFI), a worldwide organization headquartered in Durham, NH, USA. FFI collaborates with diverse groups, including middle and high school students, senior citizens, professional leadership teams, and civic organizations, emphasizing both individual leadership growth and community-based action. Sonia was extended an invitation to partake in FFI’s Global Immersion Program, a significant honor.

FFI, a non-profit organization with campuses spanning two continents, organizes cross-cultural journeys open to individuals regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or socio-economic background. The program’s aim is to cultivate both international and domestic experiences that broaden perspectives. This year’s edition of the program unfolded in Belfast, Northern Ireland, spanning from August 9, 2023, to August 19, 2023. The roster featured representatives from diverse countries, including Austria, Brazil, Canada, India, Mongolia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Turkey, with Sonia proudly representing India.

At its core, the program focuses on empowering participants to gain profound insights into their own selves, their community’s challenges, and the essential skills required to address these challenges effectively. The intensive phase of the program covers FFI’s foundational curriculum sessions, engaging service-learning activities, authentic community engagements, and tailored exercises designed to foster collaborative leadership.

Over the course of the ten-day program, the international representatives experienced communal living without reliance on technology, accompanied by a 100% plant-based diet. Their daily regimen encompassed a diverse range of activities, from introspective sessions centered around life mapping and identity exploration to enhancing communication prowess. Each representative was provided the platform to share their unique cultural perspectives, supported by evocative photographs capturing their homelands. In addition to classroom-based learning, the cohort embraced physical endeavors such as meditation, trekking, hiking, team games, visits to local beaches, and immersive farm tours.

To further integrate with the local community, the group engaged with local youth organizations, seeking to better understand their contributions to the community’s well-being. They held meaningful dialogues with entities delivering health and wellness services to rural areas, garnered insights into political dynamics through interactions with the Northern Ireland Assembly, and actively participated in an array of thought-provoking activities.

A key facet of the leadership program entailed equipping participants with the skills to craft innovative, sustainable, and impactful solutions to the challenges present within their own communities. This process involved honing their public speaking abilities, investing substantial time and effort into refining speeches, receiving constructive feedback, and fostering mutual support to enhance their delivery. Notably, FFI Global Alumni played a pivotal role as program counselors, offering guidance during sessions and serving as mentors throughout the program’s duration.

Sonia Lasrado, currently pursuing her studies in 1st PUC at St Aloysius PU College in Mangaluru, stands as a testament to the transformative influence of Friends Forever International. The organization’s ongoing guidance and support continue to empower her and fellow participants in their shared initiatives aimed at fostering positive change within their respective communities.

Global Indian Families | Serve as bridges between families across nations and cultures | offer a platform for Indian citizens to establish global networks | Let the world be Connected | Global TV

Global Indian Families: Building Bonds and Empowering Communities

In an increasingly interconnected world, the concept of “Global Indian Families” (GIF) emerges as a powerful force for family collaboration, cooperation, and co-creation. This informal voluntary organization of Indian Families bring together Indian citizens and families that are spread across the globe into small groups that are nurtured globally on common principles. Uniting them through shared values, heritage, and a common goal is the idea here. Even individuals can become part of Global Indian Families through an Indian Family who are associated with GIF.

It is also alright to call it Global International Families wherever it is required and helpful. The idea of GIF is to attract people to India. It is not a restricted vision. One can imagine it from the point of view of any destinations. Foster growth and empowerment, both locally and internationally through collaboration is the broad idea of GIF. At its core, the Global Indian Families initiative aims to create family circles that transcend geographical boundaries, leveraging the collective strength of Indians worldwide to contribute to the development of their homeland, one district at a time. Vasudaiva Kudumbakam is our philosophy saying “The World Is One Family”. GIF is coined for convenience and clarity. Think Broad.

Global TV: The Unifying Thread:

The power of media in today’s world is undeniable. Global TV serves as the connecting thread, binding Global Indian Families together. This platform enables GIFs to showcase their efforts, share success stories, and inspire others to join the movement. Moreover, Global TV serves as a source of revenue generation by offering advertisement space and partnership opportunities to businesses that align with the GIF vision. We publish books about families and individual success stories. Collective book publishing is an area welcomed by the society at large. About 10 Families / stories are covered in a book.

  • Connecting Hearts and Districts:

Global Indian Families serve as bridges between nations and cultures, offering a platform for Indian citizens to establish global networks. With an emphasis on collaboration, cooperation, and co-creation, GIFs focus on channeling their efforts toward the development of their home districts in India. By nurturing bonds and partnerships across continents, GIFs harness the strength of their diaspora to attract individuals from around the world to experience the rich cultural diversity and to encash great opportunities that India has to offer.

  • Micro Tourism and Rural Empowerment:

One of the key pillars of the GIF initiative is micro-tourism. GIFs work to promote and facilitate responsible tourism at the grassroots level, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the authentic Indian experience. Through guided visits organized by local families, tourists can engage with indigenous cultures, heritage sites, and community activities. This not only bolsters the local economy but also empowers rural communities by creating sustainable livelihoods.

  • Collective Farming and Sustainable Practices:

Agriculture forms the backbone of India’s economy, and GIFs recognize the potential of collective farming in transforming the rural landscape. By encouraging modern and sustainable agricultural practices, GIFs contribute to food security, increased income for farmers, and the preservation of traditional farming knowledge. This collaborative effort ensures that the prosperity derived from the land is shared equitably among the community.

  • Empowering Rural Entrepreneurs:

Global Indian Families empower rural entrepreneurs by promoting initiatives such as dry fruit processing. By providing training, resources, and market access, GIFs enable local communities to add value to their produce, resulting in increased income and reduced post-harvest wastage. This not only boosts local economies but also preserves traditional practices while embracing innovation.

  • Financial Sustainability and Revenue Generation:

The transition from mutual collaboration to global collaboration requires financial sustainability. The concept of GIF explore various avenues for revenue generation, including One Time Payment (OTP) annually being Global TV Head Quarters Development Fund. Certain Benefits Shall be provided in return in the form of Media Services etc. Your contribution should be unconditional first.

Family groups can introduce revenue models according to their choices and freedom. It is better to maintain transparency and accountability. Few options are below:

Membership Fees: A nominal annual membership fee can be introduced, which not only helps fund the activities but also creates a sense of ownership among the members.

Donations and Sponsorships: Seeking donations and sponsorships from philanthropic organizations, businesses, and individuals who resonate with the GIF mission can provide substantial financial support.

Tourism Packages: GIFs can curate exclusive tourism packages that offer immersive cultural experiences. A portion of the proceeds from these packages can be directed toward community development projects.

Holistic Impact and Independence:

Each Global Indian Family operates as an independent unit, tailoring their approach to suit the unique needs of their home district. This autonomy allows for a diverse range of projects and initiatives that collectively contribute to the holistic development of India. With a one-time annual payment that grants access to Global TV’s promotional capabilities, GIFs can leverage technology to garner support and enhance visibility.

The Global Indian Families initiative emerges as a beacon of collaboration, cooperation, and co-creation, exemplifying the potential of diaspora communities to drive meaningful change. By uniting Indian citizens across the world and channeling their efforts toward the development of their home districts, GIFs establish a powerful network that not only attracts global interest to India but also empowers local communities through sustainable practices, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange. Through the unifying medium of Global TV, these families can catalyze mutual growth while maintaining their independence and distinct thematic focuses.

Welcome | The Path to Excellence | The Power of Complementing | Surpass Borders | Global TV

Stop Complaining and Start Complementing: Embracing Positivity on the Path to Success

By TK Raheem

In a world that is constantly moving towards success and excellence, the power of positivity can often be underestimated. The journey towards personal and professional growth is paved with challenges and opportunities alike. While complaints and negativity may seem like an inevitable part of this journey, it’s essential to recognize the transformative impact that complementing the positives can have on our lives.

The Path to Excellence

As individuals, we all strive for success and excellence. We set goals, work hard, and push our boundaries to achieve our aspirations. However, this path is not always smooth, and hurdles can often lead to frustration and complaining. It’s easy to fall into the trap of focusing on what’s going wrong rather than appreciating what’s going right. But, as the saying goes, every problem is an opportunity in disguise.

The Power of Complementing

When we shift our focus from complaining to complementing, something remarkable happens. We begin to see the world through a different lens – one that highlights the beauty, the progress, and the potential around us. Complementing doesn’t mean ignoring challenges or avoiding acknowledging areas that need improvement. Instead, it’s about recognizing the silver linings, the small victories, and the achievements, no matter how minor they may seem.

Surpass Borders

Just as there are physical borders that divide nations, there are invisible boundaries that permeate our lives. These boundaries can manifest in the form of people, institutions, places, and cultures that either welcome or discourage growth and positivity. It’s our choice to identify and navigate these boundaries. Complementing becomes a tool to dissolve the barriers that negativity can erect, allowing us to forge connections and collaborations that propel us forward.

Cultivating a Positive Mindset

Cultivating a positive mindset is not a one-time task but an ongoing journey. It involves training ourselves to see opportunities in setbacks and to find lessons in failures. Complimenting the positives becomes a habit that rewires our thinking, empowering us to respond to challenges with resilience and determination. This mindset shift not only enhances our individual journeys but also influences those around us, creating a ripple effect of optimism.

Excel by Choosing the Right Path

On the road to excellence, choosing the right path involves making conscious decisions about how we approach life’s twists and turns. Complementing the positives doesn’t mean ignoring the negatives; rather, it means acknowledging both and consciously opting to channel our energy into solutions and growth. By reframing our mindset and language from complaints to compliments, we open doors to innovation, collaboration, and progress.

As we travel towards success and excellence, the choice between complaining and complementing lies in our hands. Each day presents us with opportunities to recognize the positives that surround us – the supportive individuals, the inspiring institutions, the welcoming cultures. By embracing a positive mindset and complimenting the achievements, both big and small, we not only break down barriers but also fuel our own growth.

So, let’s make a conscious choice to stop complaining and start complementing. Let’s see the world through a lens of positivity, forging ahead with determination and an unwavering belief in our ability to overcome challenges. As we do so, we pave a smoother and more enriching path towards the success and excellence we all aspire to achieve.

Exploring Village Economics: Resource Sharing, Space Sharing, and Time Pools to attract cities to enjoy the beauty of village life | Global TV

Global TV ME First Campaign with Micro Tourism, Collective Farming, Day Out Packages, Agro Processing, Balcony Plants and many more

Let us go into Ruralization drives when the world is talking about globalization, and urbanization. Technological advancements should help to use village economics to be strengthened and to strengthen city economics. The timeless principles of resource sharing, space sharing, and time pools reinforce the unique qualities in the functioning of traditional villages. These principles not only foster a sense of community but also demonstrate the sustainability and efficiency of localized economic systems. We should engage people into the core elements of village economics, and use them either to celebrate life or to gain valuable insights for a better living in today’s complex contemporary societies.

Resource Sharing: The Power of Collective Strength

Resource sharing lies at the heart of village economics, where communities share resources and work together to optimize the utilization of limited resources. In traditional villages, people shared tools, agricultural equipment, and even food to ensure that everyone had access to what they needed. This practice not only reduced individual expenses but also promoted social cohesion and mutual support.

Applying this concept to modern contexts, we can see its relevance in the sharing economy and collaborative initiatives. Together we are greater than however greater we individually are. There are plenty of platforms that facilitate resource sharing, such as shared services and co-working spaces, collective farming etc.

We should reflect on the enduring values of village life by sharing resources and by initiating social development programs.  Communities can reduce waste, increase efficiency, and forge meaningful connections in many ways.

Space Sharing: From Common Lands to Shared Workspaces

The concept of space sharing in village economics is exemplified by the tradition of common lands and shared grazing areas. These spaces were collectively owned and utilized by the entire community for activities like agriculture and animal husbandry. This practice prevented overuse of individual plots, enabled more sustainable land management, and ensured equitable access.

Today, the notion of shared spaces has evolved into the co-working and co-living movement. Co-working spaces provide freelancers, entrepreneurs, and remote workers with affordable places to work, while co-living spaces foster a sense of community in urban settings. These modern adaptations echo the village principle of optimizing space utilization while promoting collaboration and interaction among diverse individuals.

Time Pools: The Currency of Cooperation

In village economics, time was often treated as a communal resource. Time pools involved individuals coming together to collectively accomplish tasks that would be time-consuming or labor-intensive if tackled alone. This cooperative effort allowed for greater efficiency and reduced the burden on individual households.

This principle finds its parallel in modern volunteer networks and community initiatives. By pooling their time and skills, individuals can create positive change without relying solely on monetary transactions. Community gardens, neighborhood clean-up drives, and disaster relief efforts showcase how time pools can enhance community resilience and well-being.

Challenges and Considerations

While the principles of resource sharing, space sharing, and time pools offer compelling benefits, adapting them to contemporary contexts presents challenges. Urbanization, changing social dynamics, and digitalization have reshaped the way people interact and share resources. Additionally, ensuring equitable participation and preventing exploitation in shared systems remain ongoing concerns.

Village economics, with its emphasis on resource sharing, space sharing, and time pools, provides a framework that remains relevant in today’s rapidly evolving world. By harnessing these principles, societies can cultivate a sense of community, promote sustainable resource utilization, and foster collaboration among diverse individuals. While the landscape has changed, the core values of mutual support, efficient resource allocation, and collective well-being continue to offer valuable insights for shaping a more interconnected and sustainable future.

Stop and Rethink | Reconnect | Most of our emotional baggage originates out of our inexperience during childhood or formative years | These unresolved emotions are projected onto the spouse, just because of repeated proximity | Global TV

“Halt the Divorce Process: We can Unearth Your Emotional Baggage through Neuro-Linguistic Programming”

By Sara Thomson

Divorce is a complex and emotionally charged process that often branches from a multitude of unresolved issues between spouses. However, a unique perspective suggests that a significant portion of the emotional baggage tied to one’s partner might actually belong to their own younger self. We should get into the deeper inside of the issues using Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and address these emotional issues before we look into the real differences that the couple is facing on a real-time basis. Most of the issues can be resolved with NLP therapy, especially through techniques like Timeline Therapy and Swish Therapy.

Real understanding and resolving remaining issues are much easier once we remove the emotional baggage experienced by both couples. Most of the time, it is effortless for an experienced NLP therapist to potentially guide the couple to get back into a normal life with renewed energy through individual and joint sessions. Relationships can be fostered well through healthier communication.

The Link Between Past and Present Emotions

When couples find themselves struggling with emotions during the divorce process, it’s common to overlook the fact that some of these feelings might not be entirely related to their current situation. Mr. NV Paulose (+91 98441 82044) who is a Master Practitioner of NLP & AI, believes that many emotional triggers are rooted in earlier experiences. Most of our emotional baggage originates out of our inexperience during childhood or formative years. These unresolved emotions are projected onto the spouse, just because of repeated proximity.

You had these emotional issues even before the marriage. But, there was no one to blame or to divorce at that stage. Such misunderstandings repeat regularly after marriage just because of the starting troubles in the new relationships. Both the couple mistake the real issues and connect them with their troubled mind. When overlooked, the issues get aggravated leading to strained relationships.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Timeline Therapy

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a psychological approach that focuses on the interplay between neurological processes, language, and behavioral patterns that have been learned through experience. One of the key tools within NLP is Timeline Therapy, which involves revisiting significant moments in one’s life to release emotional blockages. By revisiting and reframing past experiences, individuals can distance themselves from the emotional baggage they’ve been carrying and detach from those feelings in the present.

Swish Therapy: Overcoming Unresolved Phobias

In addition to Timeline Therapy, NLP offers another effective technique known as Swish Therapy. This method is particularly useful for addressing unresolved phobias and anxieties that might be inadvertently affecting a relationship. The Swish Technique involves creating mental associations that gradually replace negative triggers with positive responses. Applying this technique to relationships can help individuals detach their present emotions from past traumas, facilitating healthier interactions and decision-making.

Conversations: Addressing Real Issues

While delving into one’s personal history is crucial, addressing real issues in the relationship is equally important. Effective communication is the cornerstone of any healthy partnership. As part of the healing process, couples can employ techniques borrowed from NLP to enhance their conversations. By becoming aware of communication patterns and underlying emotional triggers, individuals can express themselves more clearly and understand their partner’s perspective better.

Exploring a Multitude of Methods

Beyond Timeline Therapy and Swish Therapy, there are numerous other NLP techniques that couples can use to navigate the challenges of divorce and strained relationships. Anchoring, reframing, and perceptual positions are just a few examples of these methods, each designed to facilitate personal growth, enhance communication, and foster empathy.

Divorce is a deeply intricate process that often involves confronting emotions tied to both present and past experiences. Neuro-Linguistic Programming offers a promising avenue for individuals to untangle these emotions, especially through techniques like Timeline Therapy and Swish Therapy. By addressing unresolved emotional baggage and enhancing communication skills, couples might find that there is a chance for healing and renewed connection before the finalization of a divorce. Ultimately, the power of rebuilding relationships lies in its potential to reshape not just relationships, but also the way individuals perceive and interact with their emotions. Life after reconnection will be so fascinating and wonderful.

Whispers of Hope: “Make Each Day Your Masterpiece” Echoes at School of Social Work

His story was not just his own; it was an outstretched hand to others who tread the same shadowed path.

By Dr. Sebastin K V, Dean – Academics, School of Social Work

Amidst the hushed corridors of wisdom and the eager hearts of young minds, a symphony of inspiration unfolded at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru. Warm atmosphere bathed in the gentle embrace of Mangaluru’s breeze, played music to a motivational talk that resonated with the rhythm of dreams.

“Make Each Day Your Masterpiece” was the call for dreamers. The guiding star of this ethereal journey was Mr. Harold D Souza, the luminary behind the global canvas of Eye Open International.

With eloquence that was like poetry on the wind, Mr. D Souza wove his narrative, an elaborate song of trust, faith, promise, and dreams. These four threads, he proclaimed, when weaved with the fabric of our lives, create a canvas of happiness, positivity, persistence, and self-belief.

From the strings of his own life’s journey, he drew the lesson of transforming failures into the stepping stones of success. His words, like whispered secrets, revealed that the spark of faith, when tended with care, can illuminate the darkest of paths.

Amidst the captivated gazes of those gathered, he sketched the blueprint of resilience, urging them to lay the cornerstone of an unshakable foundation. “Build it strong,” he pondered, “and the storms shall bow before your unwavering spirit.”

Quotes, like fragrant blossoms, adorned his speech, unveiling the truth that every challenge, every setback, conceals a map to accomplishment.

In the originality of his words, freedom emerged as a design of profound significance. Mr. D Souza, once a captive of human trafficking’s clutch, painted his escape onto the canvas of his life. A voice for the voiceless, a savior for souls wandering, he found solace in the embrace of the School of Social Work, an oasis of support on his journey to emancipation.

His story was not just his own; it was an outstretched hand to others who tread the same shadowed path. He urged hearts to be brave, to lift their voices, and to seek the hands waiting to guide them through the abyss. His voice, a lighthouse of hope, reminded all that even in the silence, there are ears eager to listen, hands ready to hold.

With each word, a constellation of lessons unfolded, illuminating the hearts of those gathered. The melody of perseverance is entwined with the harmony of positivity, leaving an indelible mark on every soul present. Eyes, now alight with determination, gazed upon the stars with renewed fervor, determined to craft their own masterpieces.

And as the symphony of his words reached its climax, Mr. Harold D Souza wove a call to arms, a reminder that human trafficking is a global battle, a symposium for the world’s conscience. In unity, he urged, we shall triumph over this blight, educating ourselves and others about its signs. A bridge of support for survivors, offering them the tools to rebuild their lives, shall emerge from the ashes of their pain.

In the make of this event, luminaries such as President Ms. Vida Sequeira, Secretary Ms. Eveleen Bennis, Principal Dr. Sophia N Fernandes, and Registrar Ms. Vineetha Rai graced the stage, their presence a testament to the significance of the moment. As the echoes of Mr. D Souza’s words continued to dance in the air, one truth remained: the masterpiece of each day lies within our grasp, waiting to be painted with the hues of trust, faith, promise, and dreams.
