ആൻസൻ കുറുമ്പത്തുരുത്ത്

നന്ദു മഹാദേവ…. അവൻ ഒരു പോരാളിയായിരുന്നു…. കാലുമുതൽ ശരീരത്തിന്റെ ഓരോ ഭാഗത്തെയും ക്യാൻസർ വിഴുങ്ങുമ്പോഴൊക്കെ അവൻ പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നത്…. ഒരു നിമിഷമെങ്കിൽ ഒരു നിമിഷം പുകയരുത് ജ്വലിക്കണം എന്നായിരുന്നു.. വേദനകൾ പ്രണയിച്ച ജീവിതമായിരുന്നു നന്ദുവിന്റേത്… ആ പ്രണയം അവനെ വരിഞ്ഞുമുറുക്കി….ഇന്ന് നന്ദു മഹാദേവ വിടവാങ്ങി…

കാലിനെയും, ശ്വാസകോശത്തെയും ബാധിച്ചു ഒടുവിൽ നന്ദുവിന്റെ മുന്നിൽ ക്യാൻസർ തോൽക്കുമെന്നായപ്പോൾ കരളിനെയും കേറിപ്പിടിച്ചു ക്യാൻസർ… അതിൽ ക്യാൻസർ വിജയിച്ചു.. പക്ഷേ പോരാട്ടവീര്യത്തിന്റെ കരുത്താണ് നന്ദു സമൂഹത്തിന് പകർന്നുനൽകുന്നത്….’ചങ്കുകളെ ‘എന്ന് വിളിച്ച് കുറിപ്പുകളിലൂടെയും, വീഡിയോകളിലൂടെയും കടന്നുവരുമ്പോൾ പലപ്പോഴും നന്ദു പറയാറുള്ളത്… പുകഞ്ഞിരിക്കാനല്ല ജീവിതം… ജ്വലിക്കാനുള്ളതാണ് എന്നാണ്….ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് സ്നേഹിക്കേണ്ടതും അംഗീകരിക്കേണ്ടതും എന്ന് നന്ദു പറയുമ്പോൾ ആ സ്നേഹവും അംഗീകാരവും ഒരുപാട് നേടാൻ നന്ദുവിന് കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്ന് നിസംശയം പറയാം….

നന്ദു എപ്പോഴും പറഞ്ഞിരുന്ന ഒരു കാര്യമുണ്ട്.. നമുക്കേറെ ഇഷ്ടമുള്ള ice cream പോലെയാണ് നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതവും എന്ന്…ആസ്വദിച്ചാലും ഇല്ലെങ്കിലും അതിന്റെ സമയമാകുമ്പോൾ അത് തീർന്നുപോകും…അലിഞ്ഞില്ലാതാകുന്നതിനു മുൻപേ ആസ്വദിക്കാൻ നമുക്ക് സാധിക്കണം…രോഗങ്ങളും, കടങ്ങളും, പ്രതിസന്ധികളും എല്ലാം കഴിഞ്ഞതിനുശേഷം ജീവിതം ആസ്വദിക്കാം.. പുഞ്ചിരിക്കാം എന്നൊക്കെ കരുതിയാൽ.. ജീവിതം പരാജയമായിരിക്കും…

നന്ദുവിന്റെ ഈ വാക്കുകൾ വലിയ കരുത്തല്ലേ യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ പകർന്നുതരുന്നത്…

ഒരുപാട് ആസ്വസ്ഥതകൾക്കിടയിലാണ് നാമോരോരുത്തരും … കോവിഡ് പരത്തുന്ന ഭീതിക്കുപിന്നാലെ പ്രകൃതിയുടെ പരീക്ഷണവും… ഏതൊക്കെ പ്രതിസന്ധികൾ നേരിടേണ്ടിവന്നാലും ഒന്നേ പറയാനുള്ളൂ.. അത് നന്ദു മഹാദേവ എന്ന പോരാളിയുടെ വാക്കുകൾ ആണ്… “ഒരു നിമിഷമെങ്കിൽ ഒരു നിമിഷം പുകയരുത്… ജ്വലിക്കണം…”

പരാജപ്പെടുത്താൻ രോഗങ്ങളായും, ദുരന്തങ്ങളായും ഓരോന്നോരോന്ന് കടന്നുവന്നാലും ഇരുട്ടിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു നോക്കുമ്പോൾ കാണുന്ന ദീപനാളത്തെ പോലെ അണയാത്ത ഒരു ദീപം ഉണ്ടാകണം… പ്രതീക്ഷയുടെ ദീപനാളം….

As the world knows the situation in India is out of control in the rural areas all around us. What the papers are saying is only half the grim stories of death and destruction.

AN URGENT APPEAL

MEDICALLY-POOR RURAL INDIA NEEDS YOUR HELP
PROPOSAL FOR IMMEDIATE COVID RELIEF – BAREFOOT COLLEGE NETWORK

THE SECOND WAVE IS EVEN MORE SERIOUS

We do not need to explain the devastating impact the “second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic” has had on this country as images of burning pyres, critically ill lying in autorickshaws, patients gasping their last for want of oxygen, have burned international media which termed it a “viral apocalypse”.

Once more, we appeal to you to open your hearts and help us obtain desperately needed medical supplies – beds, oxygen, nebulisers, oxygenators, medicines, sanitisers, masks, vital supplies, wood for a decent cremation…

Barefoot Solutions

We need funds desperately to buy essential medical supplies. PLEASE don’t send parcels and equipment from abroad. The airports are clogged and it will take months to release them with all the paperwork.

The Ground Reality

What is more alarming is the migration that is taking place from the urban to the rural area with millions carrying the covid virus along with them and spreading the virus in remote villages where the medical facilities are no existent.
