Lal Goel! the man who had set an agenda for the media!
By NV Paulose
India was following an American Media System for a long time. Washington Post and Arnab Goswami were among the giants who fix the media ajenda everyday. The scenario has changed unknowingly and unexpectedly with a sequence of events one after the other.
‘Pandemic hit world’ went on an introspection unknowingly and the outcome is a new emergence of standards in every front. Media being the trendsetter was playing the role of the Master Culprit. People like Arnab were commanding control over everything and everyone in power. None was able to think anything against them. This has changed in the flow of events during the Pandemic strike at its first blow. Let us look into the whereabouts of what had happened during pandemic.
The Lal Goel model of agenda setting for Media.
It was all shutdown since third week of March 2020 and media was all in total dilemma. People stopped print newspapers and magazines fearing Corona. TV Channels till then were creating issues from nowhere for diverting everyone’s attention. Every media got wonder struck when the real issue had emerged from nowhere. They had no idea of facing real challenges.
Can we do something for the larger benefit of the society was the thought of Mr. Lal Goel at such a confusing time in the history of mankind. The initiative started with small episodes have grown to become the trendsetter and agenda setter for Indian Media. Every day went with a new topic and there are hundreds of relevant topics Already being discussed.
There are hundreds of thousands of issues waiting for media intervention at international to local level. There is no dearth of issues in our country. There is no issue that cannot be resolved as well. Mr. Lal Goel has emerged being one of the best editors in Indian media today. His presence of mind, respect for the guests, willingness to listen and interest to engage in fruitful conversations etc. are very much noteworthy.
Another important change that had happened to the Indian media is it’s mindset that is stuck with journalism degrees. There is no college in India teaching latest media trends. Mr. Lal Goel could prove that a dedicated person who is willing to learn and respect people can become a reputed editor. There are plenty of opportunities for committed citizens to become reputed editors in India.
Many great men and women are coming forward to become editors and to take up real issues into discussion today. Several new topics are also emerging every day. No more attention diverts in Indian Media. Arnab and TRP scams are only until there are advertisements based on false reports.
Ultimately the people who work in search of solutions will set agenda for Indian Media at various levels. Anyone who is good in communication, has a sense of responsibility and is willing to take part in development processes will make a great career being Editors and Chief Editors with trendsetter media like Global TV, TED and so many similar meaningful media platforms. Salute to the dedicated editors who are sincerely involved on the transformation process of otherwise lost Indian social integrity.
Congratulations to Mangalore City Corporation that they have invited opinion from people while preparing the NEW BUDGET through Janaagraha.
While they have set priorities limited in three segments like Waste Management, Roads and Footpaths, they have given option for the people to write new ideas and action plans.
We proposed our suggestion as below!
While Preparing Budget we should understand that we have large resources unutilized and we have very limited MONEY in Hand. Can we check how much money we have for NON RECUCCRING Expenditure? Can we activate people participation in development projects using this limited FUNDS.
Asking suggestion is the first step in People Participation in development program. By doing this you have taken a BIG Step towards a large CAMPAIGN. CONGRATULATIONS.

Personalisation and Individualism in its positive sense is very encouraging and powerful.
By NV Paulose
The second word may need to be added upon to the US and British dictionaries and also into the mindsets of the corporate super kings. Individualisation is the only way forward in the path of survival. All other ways are of total distribution of the corporate culture. Even the corporate culture in the co operative system also has to undergo tremendous changes. What can survive should be the search of today. The world of governments all over the world had ignored enormous suffering of the innocent people across the world. Every form of governments were creating their small circles of limited beliefs. We the global citizens has to think different and uniquely different from one another. Every encounter is a new opportunity as described by the new bishop. Anything that happens in the world has to be combined with the future planning and nothing needs to be ignored. This is a positive note to consider and not to advocate any kind of revenge over anyone. The one who has eyes wide open will see the possibilities that are open one after the other. Everyone has the potential for ultimate performance. No one need to settle down with a mediocre level of accomplishments. To achieve the maximum and to consume the minimum should be the way forward. It was the encient philosophy as well. There must be plenty of people who live Happy Life all across the world. One need not go across the globe to find happy people. Just a look around is enough to see so many happy people around. Difficult times are challenging times that will generate happiness at the end of the tunnel. Many achieve greater realisations at the bottom depth of distress in their life. One has to undergo tough times to understand the greater purpose in their life. One who is in a non compromising posture towards life and it’s ambitions are going to win greater manifestations in the process of accomplishments. One need not search for an end in the tunnel. Life can be discovered within a tunnel as well. Shining diamonds are manifestations of tunnel experience at its worst scenarios. Perfect fall of a drop of water may cause a great outcome out of the fall. Process is important. Reflection of right perspective is very important. What is that I am doing according to the universal plan? Is it going with my plans as well? Fantastic when our tunes are tuned with the universal tunes. Setting up of an upper tune may not make the melody so melodious. We have to fall in line with the larger procession wherein our elder generations had walked in alignment with their previous generations. Living at the moment is very important. Tapping every dimensions of the moment will help us to explore the best in our lifetime. We are not less or more. We are the optimal optimum optimised for a perfect flow in a closed tunnel of thick collaborations. No inch of space is left unchecked. No need to travel an extra mile. Do the best at the moment and next moments will emerge on its own. Moments will come with its catalogue to refer with and to reflect upon. Be happy that we are front runners according to the universal plan that are set right without our interventions. We are not the kingmakers. We are part of the game. That’s the matter of great joy and happiness.
Kind Humankind: The Dawn of a New Normal! Rutger Bregman bells the cat
Jose T Thomas
Enter a 32-year old investigative journalist-historian who with a toolkit of metajournalism takes on those who manufactured evolutionary scientism out of Darwin’s science of evolution: Rutger Bregman, the cool Dutch.
After his 2019 blockbuster appearence at WEF/Davos, the unaired interview with Carlson of Fox News and the best-selling Utopia for Realists, Bregman in his latest book Humankind: A Hopeful History exposes the Selfish Gene myths of the last century which seems to rule the world even in the early decades of the new millennium.
Who made Darwin the Darwinian a Darwinist and an expounder of the Survival of the Most Selfish? You guessed it correctly: the news media. Independently of A.R. Wallace, Charles Darwin came up with the science (scientific theory) of evolution by his On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in The Struggle for Life in 1859. The newspapers had their own ideas of “favours” and “struggles” and, as Britannica puts it, “drew the one conclusion that Darwin had specifically avoided: that humans had evolved from apes, and that Darwin was denying mankind’s immortality”. Thereafter cut-throat selfish competitiveness has been portrayed and believed as the hallmark of human nature. In our times, its summit was economic globalization, liberalisation and privatization.
In this rat-race, real and imagined, where does the science of evolution really stand? Though Darwin thought women inferior and considered blacks lower race, in The Descent of man (1871) he holds the key to our real human nature:
“I fully subscribe to the judgment of those writers who maintain that of all the differences between man and the lower animals, the moral sense or conscience is by far the most important… To do good in return for evil, to love your enemy, is a height of morality to which it may be doubted whether the social instincts would, by themselves, have ever led us. It is necessary that these instincts, together with sympathy, should have been highly cultivated and extended by the aid of reason, instruction, and the love or fear of God, before any such golden rule would ever be thought of and obeyed” ( The Descent of Man; Chapter IV )
This is real Darwin exploring the Truth about the facts of evolution that is Survival of the Compassionate. The reporters, editors, professors and preachers of more than one and a half centuries missed it. Now in our new epoch of networked friend-lists, without dwelling much on Darwin or the non-Darwinian Darwinists, Rutger Bregman metajournalistically explores and recaps the prehistory and history of evolution and projects “Survival of the Friendliest “ into our future.
For those whom a single sentence of wisdom is enough, here’s Bregman on page 9: “Our grim view of humanity is […] a nocebo”. A self-reinforcing negative expectation. For those who need a little more: “To believe people are hardwired to be kind isn’t sentimental or naive. On the contrary, it’s courageous and realistic to believe in peace and forgiveness”. Or, “When we hole up in our trenches, we lose sight of reality. We’re lured into thinking that a small, hate-mongering minority reflects all humankind. Like the handful of anonymous internet trolls that are responsible for all the vitriol on Twitter and Facebook” (p.380).
For those who are in need of more data, information, knowledge and review of knowledge, he provides chunks of them microprocessed. From prehistoriography to breaking-news journalism, from philosophy to child psychology, from evolutionary theory to anthropology, military research, management science, economics and the psychology of power, Bregman unravels the story of purely scientific studies being misreported, under-reported or not reported. And more shockingly, the fake research which gets patronage from the powers to be – the media, industry, military and the academic elite. They perpetuate the myth of that ever-competing, ever-exploiting, selfish and mutually destructive worms called Homo Sapiens who are in a perpetual war of all against all from time immemorial.
As in a study tour with ample camaraderie, Bregman the investigator conducts the readers around the skeleton-filled cupboards and dusty archives of modern research which rolled out fake justifications for coercion, profiteering, corruption, clientelism, racism, xenophobia and every inhuman project in the name of that human nature with a capital H and N.
And this brilliant campaigner of Universal Basic Income reports the good news:
The Hobbesian image of humans, judging from the most common evidence, is empirically wrong. Humans are hardwired for solidarity, and this is what makes violence so difficult.
How much archeological evidence is there for early warfare? How much proof is there that war is in our nature? The answer is almost none.
Though civilization has become synonymous with peace and progress and wilderness with war and decline, in reality, for most of human existence, it was the other way around [And there is a way out].
[Not reported by the media, all around the world) there are managers who have total faith in their staff, teachers who give kids free rein to play and elected officials who treat their constituents as creative, engaged citizens – People who recreate the world in their own image.
Following a period of enclosures and market forces, a silent revolution has been simmering at the bottom to an explosion of initiatives like care co-operatives, sick day pools, energy co-ops [more Commons and, of course, one of the biggest movements of the 21st century: Participatory Budgeting experiments].
One of the most promising alternatives to the existing capitalist model has actually been around for quite a while. Not in progressive Scandinavia, red China or in Latin America’s cradles of anarchy. It comes, rather unexpectedly, from a US state where terms like ‘progressive’ and ‘Socialist’ ase used as insults. From Alaska with the community property philosophy ever since 1976. A different road, heading towards a new society, in which everyone has a share.
‘Turning the other cheek’ works on a large scale – in prisons and police stations, after terrorist attacks or in times of war.
Some may ask: “Then what about Hitlers, Stalins and Pol Pots?” Read Bregman firsthand. I don’t want to be a spoiler.
Something personal: Saluting the new epoch which spans a new world of new generations from the 1990s, placing it in the whole his & her-story of human cultural evolution and projecting the arrow of evolution to the unity in compassionate love (anpu) from an Indic perspective, I published Bhavivicharam (On Our Future) in 2016. Initial responses were dim. Many readers commented: “Unbelievable hope”. Malayalam readers were enthusiastically reading Harari’s Sapiens, copies of which flooded the second-hand (and pirated) book shops. Homo Deus followed. Dystopia (or mistopia?) of the elite Malayalees heightened.
Now, on the cover of Bregman’s book, Yuval Noah Harari loudly admits: “Humankind challenged me and made me see humanity from a fresh perspective” (Paperback time for Harari fans to take a U-turn).
Hats off to you, Rutger Bregman, from the other hemisphere, from another language family, from a man double your age! In between optimists and pessimists you cleared the path for probabilists.

Development is something to be personalised more than globalized!
By NV Paulose
Treaties are vital initiatives in international relations. Have we ever thought of exploring the possibilities at internal level? Mullaperiyar dam is based on a treaty between the states of Kerala and Tamilnadu. There are very few such arrangements existing in Independent India.
Industrialization gave birth for International Treaties. Today is for internal treaties it can be between Gram Panchayats to any further levels. Families can engage in treaties with other families. The idea is to explore the possibilities to address the challenges 💪 of time from the advent of Corona Pandemic.
Every challenge is an opening of windows into a large sky of alternatives. Purpose of a treaty is to make proper use of a resource that is underutilized at present. We have plenty of resources underutilized including our large wealth of human resources. More resources are underutilized than utilized.
Every GRAM PANCHAYAT should identify AMBASSADORS all across the world to initiate Treaties for the people of their locality. A great possibility has emerged with digitalization. It is nothing but the possibilities of Outsourcing. Along with that, there is a slowdown in International Travel. This creates opportunities for modifications in flight modes.
Cargo ✈Airplanes and Travel flights need to be interchanged in a large way. Mini flights for multiple Travel destinations in a consecutive order to save excessive variable costs. Large flights need to be cargo combined in a more frequent manner. Like the seating to be modified with freezer unit under every seat to carry fresh fruits, vegetables and ready to cook food varieties. Give personal care for everyone like Jawahar Lal Nehru was getting his clothes done with laundry at Paris every time ( Was it so true and as frequent as I was told in the childhood tales?)
These are revolutionary ideas for existence and survival of the so called star ⭐ facilities.
Come down with an expanded thought process and welcome ideas from all sides. Fundamental idea is to utilize and engage every resources that are available everywhere. You can achieve a lot by allowing things to happen beyond your regime of control and welcoming more brain centres to engage in your diversification process.
Organisations should allow their people to establish new revenue models.
Newspapers should think about Non Commercial Feature Pages by engaging new media teams in line with Public Relation Network ⭐ and the like. Organizations should think about converting their clients into their working partners. Hotels should think about improving the businesses of their regular customers 👀👉 by giving more facilities and extraordinary services to their advantage.
A favour done is an investment made when it is done with potential and thankful people. We need to develop and nurture an inspirational and recreational world around us. There are plenty of ways for doing that. Engaging people from various social backgrounds and segments is one way and engaging into creative discussions is the more specific way to do that.
Every person is a new dimension of an idea. Industrialization brought in the concept of run of the mill products. Personalisation and specialisation are the way forward to engage maximum people into the wealth creation process. Let creation of wealth is at our focus and an equitable sharing attitude to be at our core values and operational systems.
