We experience the turmoil of corruption in the middle of electoral and power politics. A disturbing collusion is unraveling visibly in the union of politicians from various parties, dancing to the tune of one another. They are hand in hand in the shadows of corruption and the desolation of nature for filling the greed of their bottomless buckets. The law that is designed to protect and serve the people are now appears to be nothing more than a tool wielded by those who should be its guardians.

It is disheartening to witness efficient officials forsaking their values, bowing to the menacing allure of corruption, and succumbing to the pressure imposed by nefarious elements loitering in the corridors of power. Threats of power and offers of fortune go simultaneously side by side. The way the politicians and officials mislead the general public pave the way for a toxic alliance that jeopardizes the very fabric of our society. What will be the result? Nature bears the brunt of their unholy matrimony in the name of development.

Anti-social elements, disguised as proponents of progress, are on a relentless mission to exploit and destroy our environment. Their motives, transparent as the empires they build abroad with ill-gotten gains, leave our nation’s wealth drained and depleted. It’s a painful déjà vu and reminiscent of the days when the British pillaged our riches. Today, the assailants wear a different guise. They are our own politicians. Once they were as pure as the new born kids.

We stand at a precipice where the lessons of history echo loud and clear. Great Britain, once a mighty empire, now stands in ruins, a cautionary tale of unbridled greed and avarice. The wealth hoarded through deceitful means dissipates like smoke, leaving a nation in tatters. We must not allow our beloved country to follow the same grim path. We should reclaim our moral compass.

We should do a collective effort to bring our lawmakers back to the simplicity of truth and uprightness. The nefarious tactics of misinformation and division, once wielded by the British, have found new proponents in our own political landscape. It is time to expose these tactics, mend the tears in our social fabric, and foster unity among our people.

Our youth, the torchbearers of the future, deserve mentors who embody values and integrity. The opaque doors and windows of government offices must be flung open to let in transparency and accountability. Instead of nurturing capital corruption, let us invest in building career corporations that empower our citizens and strengthen our nation.

The sins of the present, left unchecked, become the floods and thunders of the future. Insights on Societal Challenges and Values | Highlights of the talk

I must confess that while I am not an environmentalist by profession, I have delved into the study of environmental laws and the consequences of environmental destruction. During my presentation on mining to the government of Karnataka, I witnessed first-hand the detrimental impact of mining activities on the environment. The greed-driven practices of the mining industry led to the destruction of forest areas, prompting me to reflect on the broader consequences.

I firmly believe that the root cause of environmental degradation lies in the prevailing societal issue of greed. In this address, I don’t claim expertise in environmental matters but rather speak as an observer who has witnessed the pervasive greed in our society and its potential impact on the environment and economy.

One concept I strongly advocate for is sustainable development. While it is crucial in a world with a growing population, the definition of sustainable development should align with governmental guidelines rather than individual interpretations. My experience in Karnataka and various professional roles has exposed me to the disconnect between individual aspirations and the overall development of the state.

Reflecting on societal values, I’ve observed a significant shift over the years. In the past, society imposed sanctions on individuals who committed crimes, fostering a sense of justice. However, contemporary society places paramount importance on wealth and power. This shift has fuelled a relentless competition for riches and influence, often at the expense of ethical considerations.

Illustrating this societal transformation, I cite instances of large-scale scams over the decades, where substantial amounts of public funds were misappropriated. These incidents, such as Commonwealth Games scam, 2G scam, and Colgate scam, underscore the prevailing issue of greed. The misallocation of resources stands in stark contrast to the limited budget allocated for the overall development of the state.

Addressing the societal shift, I emphasize the importance of contentment and humanism. Contentment, not merely satisfied with one’s possessions but aspiring for legitimate ambitions, can combat the destructive force of greed. Similarly, humanism, a value instilled by our elders, promotes peace and solidarity.

I share anecdotes from my tenure at the Karnataka Lokayukta , highlighting instances where empathy, ethical considerations, and humanism were lacking. These real-life examples demonstrate the need for a societal transformation towards values that prioritize justice, honesty, and compassion.

I challenge the audience, especially the youth, to recognize the consequences of unchecked greed and actively cultivate values of contentment and humanism. By fostering a society grounded in ethical principles, we can collectively contribute to positive change and sustainable development.

പാലാവയൽ സെന്റ് ജോൺസ് ദേവാലയത്തിൽ നടന്ന വെടിക്കെട്ട് ദുരന്തത്തിന് ഒരു വയസ്സ് തികയുന്നു. അപകടത്തിൽ മനസ്സിനും ശരീരത്തിനും മുറിവേറ്റവർ മുക്തരായി വരുന്നു.
ദുരന്താനന്തരം ഇരകളോട് സഭ ചെയ്തത് നീതീകരിക്കാനാവാത്ത കടുത്ത അവഗണന മാത്രം.
പാലാവയൽ സമീപദേശത്തെ പള്ളി വികാരിമാർ കുർബാനമധ്യേ അൾത്താരയിൽ നിന്ന് ഇടവക ജനത്തോട് അസത്യം വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞ് അപകട വ്യാപ്തി ലഘൂകരിക്കുവാൻ ഗൂഢാലോചന നടത്തി. അൾത്താരയിൽ നിന്ന് പച്ചക്കള്ളം പ്രചരിപ്പിച്ചവർ എങ്ങോട്ട് തിരിഞ്ഞുനിന്ന് കുർബാന നടത്തിയാലും പ്രീതികരമാവില്ല.

ദുരന്ത ശേഷം ഞാൻ ഫേസ്ബുക്കിൽ കുറിച്ച രൂക്ഷമായ പ്രതികരണം ഇല്ലായിരുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ അപകട വ്യാപ്തി ആരും അറിയില്ലായിരുന്നു. തിരിച്ചറിവുകളുടെ വെടിക്കെട്ട് എന്നെ എന്റെ ഫേസ്ബുക്ക് കുറിപ്പ് വൈറലായി. മൂടിവെക്കപ്പെട്ട ദുരന്ത വ്യാപ്തി പലരും തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു.

കേട്ടറിവു മാത്രം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന സൈബർ ആക്രമണം അനുഭവിച്ചറിയാനായ നാളുകൾ. വെടിക്കെട്ട് നടത്തിയവരെ ന്യായീകരിച്ച് വെള്ള പുതപ്പിക്കാൻ ഒരു ഗൂഢസംഘം രംഗത്തിറങ്ങി. അസത്യപ്രചരണങ്ങളുടെ വലിയ തിരുമുറിവുകളാണ് ഇക്കൂട്ടർ ഇരകൾക്ക് സമ്മാനിച്ചത്. ഇതിനൊക്കെ നേതൃത്വം നൽകിയവർ അടുത്തറിയാവുന്നവരും സുഹൃത്തുക്കളും. നിലപാടുകളെ വ്യക്തിഹത്യകൊണ്ട് പ്രതിരോധിക്കാനുള്ള ശ്രമം. ക്രിസ്തീയ കാഴ്ചപ്പാടോ അനുകമ്പയോ ഇല്ലാത്ത ഇവരുടെ ശ്രമം അമ്പേ പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു. മര്യാദയും മാന്യതയും ഇല്ലാത്ത സൈബർ ആക്രമണത്തെ ഞാൻ വ്യക്തിപരമായി പ്രതിരോധിച്ചില്ലെങ്കിലും നിലപാടുകളും ആർജ്ജവത്വവും ഉള്ള ഒരുപാടുപേർ ഈ പൈശാചിക കൂട്ടങ്ങൾക്ക് ചുട്ട മറുപടി നൽകി.
പ്രതികൾ ആരുമില്ലാതെ ചിറ്റാരിക്കാൽ പോലീസ് രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്ത ക്രൈം 2/2023 ഇതുവരെ കുറ്റപത്രം നൽകാതെ ഫയലിൽ ഉറങ്ങുന്നു.

രൂക്ഷ പ്രതികരണത്തെ തുടർന്ന് പരിക്കേറ്റവർക്ക് മെഡിക്കൽ ബിൽ നൽകിയതിലും ഉണ്ട് സാമർത്ഥ്യ മികവ്.
വെടിക്കെട്ടുകാരന് പ്രതിഫലമായി നൽകാനുള്ള പണമാണ് പരിക്കേറ്റവർക്ക് വിതരണം ചെയ്തത്. അവിടെയും ലാഭം.
തലശ്ശേരി അതിരൂപതയിലെ പള്ളികളിൽ വെടിക്കെട്ട് നിരോധിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് 17.12.2023-ന് ഇടയ ലേഖനം ഇറക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇടവക പള്ളികളിൽ വെടിക്കെട്ട് ദുരന്തം ഉണ്ടായാൽ ഇതിനാൽ സഭാ നേതൃത്വത്തിന് ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുകയില്ല എന്ന് മുൻകൂർ നോട്ടീസ്.

വെടിക്കെട്ട് എന്ന ആഭാസ ആഘോഷത്തോടുള്ള വിയോജിപ്പ് കൊണ്ടോ പരിക്കുപറ്റിയവരോടുള്ള അനുഭാവം കൊണ്ടോ ആണ് ഇടയ ലേഖനം ഇറക്കിയതെന്ന് കരുതുന്നില്ല.

അങ്ങനെയായിരുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ ഇടയ ലേഖനം നേരത്തെ ആകാമായിരുന്നു. വെടിക്കെട്ടുകൊണ്ട് ഒരു ദൈവങ്ങളും പ്രസാദിക്കില്ല എന്ന് തുടങ്ങി കേരള ഹൈക്കോടതിയുടെ അതിശക്തമായ ഇടപെടൽ ഈ വിഷയത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ട്.
വർഷങ്ങളുടെ ചരിത്രം എടുത്താൽ തലശ്ശേരി രൂപതയിൽ വെടിക്കെട്ട് ദുരന്തങ്ങൾ ഏറെ സംഭവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അന്നൊക്കെ കണ്ണടച്ച് ഇരുട്ടാക്കിയവർ ഹൈക്കോടതിയുടെ ഇടപെടലിനു മുമ്പിൽ മുട്ടുമടക്കി എന്നു വേണം കരുതാൻ.
ഏതു സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ ആണെങ്കിലും വെടിക്കെട്ട് നിരോധിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഇടയ ലേഖനം ഇറക്കിയതിനെ സർവ്വനാത്മ സ്വാഗതം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

അജപാലനം എന്നാൽ കാര്യസാധ്യത്തിനായി പൗരമുഖ്യൻ ആകുന്നതും കേന്ദ്രം ഭരിക്കുന്ന പാർട്ടിക്ക് എംപിയെ സമ്മാനിക്കുമെന്ന വീമ്പിളക്കലും മാത്രമല്ല. ധാർമിക മൂല്യങ്ങൾ ഉയർത്തിപ്പിടിച്ച് ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ട് സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഇടയനെയാണ് ദൈവജനത്തിന് ആവശ്യം. നാലാംകിട രാഷ്ട്രീയം കളിക്കാൻ ഇവിടെ ഒരുപാട് ആൾക്കാരുണ്ട്.

കെട്ട കാലത്തിലൂടെയാണ് സഭ കടന്നു പോകുന്നത്. അപ്രമാദിത്വത്തിന്റെ അംശവടി അലങ്കാരം മാത്രമായി മാറി. മാനേജ്മെന്റ് കോട്ടയിൽ സഭാ നേതൃത്വത്തിലും അൽമായ നേതൃത്വത്തിലും എത്തിയവർ ദൈവജനത്തിനു മുമ്പിൽ കോമാളികളാകുകയാണ്.

സത്യത്തെ മാണിക്യത്താഴിട്ടു പൂട്ടിയാലും ഒളിച്ചുവെക്കാൻ ആവില്ല. സന്മനസ്സുള്ളവർക്ക് സമാധാനം എന്നുള്ളത് അലങ്കാരപദം മാത്രമാണ്.

അപകടത്തെ അതിജീവിക്കുവാൻ ബന്ധുക്കളും സുഹൃത്തുക്കളും നൽകിയ പിന്തുണ സ്നേഹത്തോടെ സ്മരിക്കുന്നു.
പാലാവയൽ ദേശവാസികൾക്ക് പരിക്കേറ്റവർ ഇന്നൊരു തമാശ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളാണ്. പരിഹസിച്ചും മുനവച്ച് സംസാരിക്കുന്നവരുമാണ് ഭൂരിപക്ഷവും. എന്റെ രൂക്ഷമായ ആത്മരോക്ഷം നിറഞ്ഞ പ്രതികരണത്തോട് പെട്ടെന്ന് പ്രതികരിച്ചതല്ലാതെ പിന്നീടാരുടെയും ഫോൺ വിളികളോ ക്ഷേമ അന്വേഷണങ്ങളോ എന്നെ തേടി എത്തിയിട്ടില്ല.
ഒറ്റുകാരിൽ ചിലർ ‘ഇത്രയല്ലേ സംഭവിച്ചുള്ളൂ’ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് ആശ്വസിക്കുവാൻ ഉപദേശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പള്ളിയോടു കളിക്കരുതെന്ന് ഭീഷണിയും നിർലോഭം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ദൈവനാമത്തിലെ ഭീഷണി എല്ലാ കാലത്തും സഭാ നേതൃത്വത്തിന്റെ തുറുപ്പുചീട്ടാണ്. കാലം മാറിയതോടെ ഇത്തരം ആയുധങ്ങളുടെ മൂർച്ച നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ആരോടും പരിഭവം ഇല്ല. കടന്നുപോയ ദുരന്ത ദിനങ്ങൾ വിധിയാണെന്ന് കരുതാനും താല്പര്യമില്ല. ഒരു രാവും പുലരാതിരുന്നിട്ടില്ല….ഒരു മഴയും തോരാതിരുന്നിട്ടില്ല… എന്ന ശുഭാപ്തി വിശ്വാസം മാത്രം.

Is this the smart city that we are envisioned? Is this the vision of the Honorable Prime Minister?

Nature is massacred in the name of Smart City Development. Rivers are destroyed. Rules are violated. Systems are not followed. What are we achieving after killing the lifeblood of the cities. There need to be a Judicial check on violations in the name of development in Smart Cities. We come across incidents even the National Green Tribunal not admitting cases against violations against the nature. We are planting the seeds of disaster which our grandchildren pay back heavy prices.

Any river has memory and when it remembers, the consequences will be calamitous. Integrity of water bodies is as important as national integrity. Article 51 A(g) states that it shall be the duty of every citizen of India to protect and improve the natural environment including the lakes and rivers.

The Madurai Bench referred to the “The Arab And The Camel” story in which the moral was, “give an inch and they will take an ell”.

A Single Bench of Justice G.R. Swaminathan observed, “The residents of Madurai are witness to the fact that there has been a substantial encroachment on Vaigai river bed by construction of link road. Any river has memory and when it remembers, the consequences will be calamitous. Integrity of water bodies is as important as national integrity. Article 51 A(g) states that it shall be the duty of every citizen of India to protect and improve the natural environment including the lakes and rivers. Judges are citizens and we have an obligation to discharge this fundamental duty while adjudicating environmental cases.”

Who are the ultimate sufferers?

Violations of law is a temporary mechanism. Every violations remain recorded and get exposed in the future. By the time the people who had committed the mistake disappear from the site. We have seen it when four apartments were bomb blasted and grounded to nil in the state of Kerala on Supreme Court order against CRZ VIOLATIONS. People were asked to vacate their houses overnight. Everyone was making attempts to prolong action against the violations of crucial nature.

Land acquisition departments and people working associated with them should be upright officials. An airline will not allow a mentally unfit pilot to fly an aircraft. A country should not allow morally bankrupt officers to take key positions.
Politicians eying on prime properties and making efforts to grab them is a common sight today. It is like cats drinking the milk by closing eyes. Entire world can see them doing all kinds of dirty tricks. We should model the Singapore Prime Minister. Corrupt should go to jail. Country will progress only when there is growth for the people.

Money is definitely not the criteria to be happy in this world or any further world. Happiness comes when we honor our consciousness. We should learn to live an uptight life. Our words will carry wait when we are filled and fueled with integrity and dignity.

Everyone wish others to be upright. The moment we become upright, our children and others become upright.

Action should come from the top of the authorities and from the deep of our minds. There is no alternative for an inspired person. One person also can change the world when he or she or whoever is upright and God fearing. We are answerable to God. Nature should be preserved and protected. That is the primary dictum in the universe.

The traditional welcome, featuring the rhythmic beats of “chenda” and the captivating “Yakshagana” performance, exemplified the warmth and cultural richness that define Karnataka. The immersive experience continued with a Bharatanatyam performance, captivating the passengers and immersing them in India’s vibrant cultural heritage.

A significant highlight was the inauguration of the Virtual Reality Experience Zone in the International Cruise Lounge, a first-of-its-kind initiative.
