- Who: Environmentalist from Mangaluru, often called the “Tree Man of Mangalore” or “Green Warrior of Mangalore”
- Background: Ex-IT professional. Headed a tech team at an IT company until around 2020, when he left to become a full-time environmentalist
- Work:
- Founder of Mangalore Green Brigade and Secretary of Vana Charitable Trust
- Has planted over 2,00,000 saplings in and around Mangaluru since 2004
- Plants ∼12,000 trees in Mangaluru every year
- Known for relocating large trees instead of cutting them for development projects – has moved 50+ trees, including peepal trees at Mangalore Central railway station
- Revives water bodies, like the Vasaru Kodi pond in Kulshekar
- Transforms dumpyards into green spaces, e.g. planted 1,570 saplings at Pachanady dumping ground
- Recognition: Karnataka Aranya Mitra Awardee, member of Bombay Natural History Society & Bamboo Society of India
