MANGALURU: A new discussion platform, ‘Mangaluru Matters’, is bringing meaningful conversations on the issues, challenges and changing realities of Mangaluru city and Coastal Karnataka to a wider audience.
Hosted by journalist and anchor Donald Pereira, the programme aims to go beyond simply highlighting problems. Its focus is on asking the right questions, understanding issues from multiple perspectives and exploring practical solutions for society. The inaugural episode focuses on one of the region’s most important institutions, print journalism. Titled “The Legacy, Challenges and Future of Print Media in Mangaluru,” Episode 1 examines the rich history of newspapers in the region, the challenges facing traditional newsrooms and the rapidly changing media landscape shaped by digital platforms.
The discussion features two experienced voices from the journalism fraternity, Ravindra Shetty, Resident Editor, Vijaya Karnataka, Times of India Group, Mangaluru, and Pushparaj B.N., President, Working Journalists Association, Dakshina Kannada District, Mangaluru. The conversation explores how traditional newspapers are adapting to the digital era, the continuing responsibilities of journalism, changing reader expectations and the future of print media in Coastal Karnataka.
