MANGALURU: A special remembrance event, titled “Amritha Manthana,” honoring the renowned scholar, writer, and cultural icon Prof. Amrutha Someshwara, will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM at the Eric Mathias Hall, Maffei Block, St. Aloysius University.
The day-long tribute is jointly organized by the Kannada Development Authority, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Karnataka Sahitya Academy, and the Department of Kannada at St. Aloysius University (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Kalagangothri, Ranga Sangathi, Bahuroopi Foundation, Dr. K.R. Shetty Tulu Study Centre (Nitte University), and the family members of Prof. Amrutha Someshwara.
Inaugural Ceremony & Keynotes
The event will commence with breakfast at 9:30 AM, followed by the grand inauguration from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Felicitation: Achintya Rai, runner-up of Zee Kannada’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Juniors, will be felicitated.
- Inaugurator: L.N. Mukundaraj, President of the Karnataka Sahitya Academy.
- Keynote Address: Dr. Purushottama Bilimale, Chairperson of the Kannada Development Authority.
- Tribute Address: Taranath Kapikad, President of the Karnataka Tulu Academy, along with Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, Vice-Chancellor of St. Aloysius University.
- Presided over by: Renowned scholar Prof. B.A. Viveka Rai.
- Introductory & Welcome Remarks: Dr. Chethana Someshwara and Rajeshwari Chethan.

Legacy of Prof. Amrutha Someshwara
Prof. Amrutha Someshwara stands as an towering figure in Kannada, Tulu, and Malayalam cultural spheres. Authoring over 100 works across 30+ literary genres—including poetry, drama, Yakshagana prasangas, research, and folk collection—he was a pioneer in documenting Tulu folklore and Paddanas. As a beloved professor, he inspired generations of scholars while promoting humanism, simplicity, and cultural harmony through his literary masterworks.
