Mar Baselios Christian College of Engineering & Technology (MBCET), Kuttikkanam, came alive with pride and excitement during its convocation ceremony Saliendo 2K25. The air buzzed with hope as students, parents, faculty, and well‑wishers gathered to celebrate the graduates of 2025.

The highlight of the day was the presence of Dr Manu Korulla, Director General (Resource & Management) at DRDO, serving as the Chief Guest. With over 36 years in India’s defence research, he is respected for his work on marine platforms, submarines, underwater systems, and guided weapons. His awards include DRDO Scientist of the Year 2017 and the Sea Heroes Award 2023

Dr Korulla spoke with warmth and humility. He began by telling the graduates how fortunate they are to finish their studies in a rapidly advancing India. He painted a vivid picture: in decades past, India relied on other countries for submarines and aircraft. Today, India builds them at home. His pride was clear as he shared how the nation has developed nuclear submarines using ninety percent Indian parts and built systems like the BrahMos missile through hard work and local talent.

He spoke also of his own journey. He studied Naval Architecture at Cochin University, earned his MS and PhD in Hydrodynamics from IIT Kharagpur, and studied project management in the United States. At DRDO’s Naval Science & Technological Laboratory in Visakhapatnam, he led teams working on marine and autonomous sea vehicles.

Dr Korulla urged students to be thoughtful and wise. Solving problems isn’t enough. You must pick the right problems to solve. He spoke of India’s vision to become a thirty‑trillion‑dollar economy by 2047. That requires strong infrastructure, smart minds, and ethical leadership. He reminded the graduates that they are now part of that great mission.

He also touched on a modern challenge: artificial intelligence. He said tools like ChatGPT can give quick answers, but they do not understand people. Engineers must go beyond this. They must consider the human side of solutions and how those solutions affect society.

A striking part of his speech was his reflection on identity. He shared that every person carries four identities:

• Where they come from
• What they have studied
• What they do
• The expectations they have; from themselves and from others

This fourth identity, he said, is most powerful. It shapes purpose and direction.
Dr Korulla ended with a story from his childhood. In school, he won a prize for a speech titled “If I Become Prime Minister”. When asked what a Prime Minister really does, he had no answer. His father later taught him that a true leader must understand and respond to the dreams of the people. That lesson stayed with him. He encouraged the students to become dream builders, not just pursue jobs.

Also present at the ceremony was His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, President of the college and the Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, who oversees the Governing Board of MBCET. His blessings added a spiritual strength to the occasion.

The convocation was live‑streamed and watched by alumni and well‑wishers across India and abroad. It was a proud moment for MBCET, an institution founded under the guidance of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and known for blending academic excellence with moral values.

It was a homecoming for many, especially for the students of Prof. Dr. N Sridhar Shetty, who have now become respected doctors and professors across the world. They returned with folded hands and full hearts, to offer their respects to the one who shaped their paths.

The invitation came from Dr. Ananda Krishana, a deeply respected alumnus of Prof. Shetty. He opened the doors of his home and the warmth of his heart to host this sacred gathering. In that space filled with prayers and memories, the presence of the Guru brought blessings that touched everyone deeply.

Prof. Dr. N Sridhar Shetty stood as a teacher, and as a guiding light in the life of many. His style of teaching and learning echoed the ancient spirit of learning. His heart is filled with love for each of his students.

The event was held in the simplicity of a home. It was grand beyond measure because of the purity of emotions it carried. The gathering saw many post-graduate students of Prof. Sridhar Shetty coming together.

Karnataka Prosthodontists also joined from different corners of the state. Their presence was out of devotion. They came to meet their teacher, and to touch his feet and thank him for every lesson, every encouragement, and every push forward. Dr. Ananda stood out as a reflection of the Guru’s wisdom. Launch of Project HEART India at Bhashyam High School Main Campus, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh

In a historic moment in the field of resuscitation, particularly in community CPR training in India, Project HEART India (High School Education and Awareness for Resuscitation Training) launched its training program for high school students of Bhashyam High School, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, in high-quality CPR.

Project HEART India is an Indo-US collaborative project focused on training in hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The project is jointly organized by the Srinivasa Heart Foundation, Warangal, Telangana, India, and the National India Hub, Community and CPR Training Center, Schaumburg, Illinois, USA.

Dr. Vemuri S. Murthy, Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Illinois College of Medicine, Illinois, USA, is the Founder (USA) and Advisor of Project HEART India. He also serves as the Honorary Advisor to the Srinivasa Heart Foundation.

Dr. Srinivas Ramaka is the Project Co-founder, Project Director, and India and Telangana State Coordinator. The primary aim of the project is to train high school students in India in CPR using regional languages.

Participant students are trained in high-quality hands-only CPR and the use of AEDs. The project seeks to improve survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrests by increasing bystander CPR rates.

With the launch of this project, Andhra Pradesh becomes the first state, Guntur the first city, and Bhashyam High School the first school in India where Project HEART India has officially commenced.

Dr. Kodali Lavanya is the Project Coordinator for Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Maheshwar Parvat serves as an advisor to the project, and Arjun Kodali is the Research Associate.

A special program marking the launch was held on August 1st at the educational campus of Bhashyam High School, Guntur. Dr. Kodali Lavanya welcomed the guests.

A video in Telugu explaining hands-only CPR and the use of AEDs was screened during the program.

Several distinguished guests, including Sri Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar and Smt. Galla Madhavi, MLA, Guntur, addressed the audience. They emphasized the crucial role of community CPR training in saving the lives of cardiac arrest victims. They also appreciated the efforts of Team Project HEART India for taking the lead in launching this vital initiative in Andhra Pradesh and in Guntur.

Pamphlets on Community CPR in both Telugu and English were released by the guests during the event.

Around 500 high school students, along with several faculty members, received training in high-quality hands-only CPR and AED use. Dr. Varun and his team played an instrumental role in conducting the training program.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sri Haribabu of Bhashyam High School.

It is planned to train 3,000 high school students in the next 10 days in hands-only CPR.

Following this successful launch in Guntur, the project is set to expand to Warangal, Telangana, and later to other Indian states.

1. What Is the Universe?
   The universe is the totality of existence. It includes:

All matter: from the tiniest subatomic particles to the largest galaxy clusters.
All energy: kinetic, potential, electromagnetic, gravitational, and more.
All of space and time: known collectively as the spacetime continuum.
All physical laws: which seem finely tuned to allow life and order to emerge.
The universe is not just a collection of objects—it is a grand system, structured and governed by deep natural laws, yet wrapped in immense mystery.

2. The Origin: The Big Bang
   Scientific consensus suggests the universe began approximately 13.8 billion years ago with a massive event known as the Big Bang. This was not an explosion in space but an expansion of space itself from an infinitely dense point called a singularity.

From that moment onward:

Space began to stretch.
Time began to tick.
Energy and matter began to differentiate.
