Disconnect from TV, Smart Phones and Connect to the Gospel in Lent: Pope John Paul

By Elsy Mathew

Pope Francis on Ash Wednesday, reflected on how the coming forty days are a good time to make room for the Word of God in our lives. Lent is a time in which to turn off the television and open the Bible. The Pope reflected on the 40 days spent by Jesus in the desert as He prepared for His public ministry and said that, in a sense, it is a time for us to imitate Jesus and seek a place of silence, where we are free to hear the Lord’s word and experience His call. “In the desert one hears the Word of God,” “one finds intimacy with God and the love of the Lord,” noting that Jesus taught us how to seek the Father, who speaks to us in silence.

He remarked on the fact that, for many of us, it is not easy to be in silence as we live in an environment that is “polluted by too much verbal violence,” by so many “offensive and harmful words” which are amplified by the internet.

Lent is a time to disconnect from cell phones and connect to the Gospel, recalling that when he was a child there was no television, but his family would make a point of not listening to the radio. “It is the time to give up useless words, chatter, rumors, gossip, and talk and to speak directly to the Lord,” it is a time in which to dedicate ourselves to an ecology of the heart. In a world in which we often struggle to distinguish the voice of the Lord, Jesus calls us into the desert and invites us to listen to what matters. And he recalled that when the devil tempted Him, Jesus replied “One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” Thus the desert, represented by the journey of Lent is a place of life, a place in which to dialogue in silence with the Lord who gives us life.

The Pope also reflected on how an important part of our Lenten desert experience is the practice of fasting, which trains us to recognize, in simplicity of heart, how often our lives are spent in empty and superficial pursuits. Fasting is being capable of giving up the superfluous and going to the essential. Fasting is not only losing weight, it is seeking the beauty of a simpler life. The Pope also noted that the solitude of the desert increases our sensitivity to those who quietly cry out for help. Even today, close to us, there are many deserts, many lonely people: they are the lonely and the abandoned. How many poor and old people live near us in silence, marginalized and discarded. The desert of Lent leads us to them. It is a journey of charity towards those who are weak and in need.

Pope Francis concluded reiterating that the path through the Lenten desert is made up of “prayer, fasting, works of mercy”, so that it may lead us “from death to life”. If we enter the desert with Jesus, we will leave it at Easter when the power of God’s love renews life and just like those deserts that bloom in spring with buds and plants suddenly sprouting from the sand, if we follow Jesus, our deserts will also bloom.

Life is so meaningful and moments are very precious; This could be the prime message for the book of Nanditha Bose

Involve in total to evolve to the best . As Browning says , ‘the best is yet to be’’.This could be one of the important messages that one can gather from the book “Mad for each other”. This book is the Bose history and a vast illustration of plenty of insightful thoughts. Lot of wisdom unfolds before the reader about how one should be or should become youthful all the while’ even when you realize your exit has been programmed.

This book is the treasured gift of this narrator to the world and reflects the history and culture of a beautiful life unfolding itself in abundance. . It tells us where the “Boses” originated from and how stalwarts of different hues reflect on the formidable challenges of real life. Tradition is passed down from generation to generation through true narratives or orratives. Telling real life stories to your children is the best way to nurture them . Talking about your parental experiences can be an enticing way to link the past generation with the future through the present. Those who follow traditions will have much to add value to the repertoire of goodness.

Nanditha Bose has become a soft pain on the sensitive mind of the reader,’felt in the blood and felt along the heart’. She takes a thousand rebirths in the pages of this amazing book exuding the zest for goodness and madness towards life. She is talking to you about the priceless life that you are handling in a casual manner. How precious life is where you have plenty to perform yourself and much more to stimulate others.

Even when she expresses her annoyance about the doctors who are predators of sort preying on their hapless patients with pontificating medical ethos , Nanditha Bose gets into the best she could do and decides to record the colorful stories from her memories that could fade away in a while.

Nanditha Bose might have taken rebirth somewhere around. Much more than a thousand births is her fruitful life resplendent with goodness and rich experiences that can ignite in you an affection towards life.

Bose is a happy blend of tradition and individual talent,as TS Eliot would put it. She is a repository of of many things ‘wise and wonderful’. Enlightened human beings work for the wellbeing of humanity at large. That’s what the past generations did and the future ones are going to do.You are no different if you choose not to be indifferent. Go beyond and do the best to fill the flowing river of life. Allow the incessant flow to go on and on and connect with one another to become ambassadors of a culture that cares, seems to be the quintessential message of Nanditha’s book.

Mad for each other is made for each one of us. It tells us about the touching plea of a daughter to her father that she wants to live more ,just like the cry of a child to her dear mother for more of a delicious dish. Nanditha lived a perfect life complete with her superabundant vitality. She went behind the pavilion giving way to many more Nandithas to emerge and embrace life at it’s best. Nanditha Bose is a testimony to how beautiful human life can be.

Nanditha’s masterpiece ,Mad for each other, is written in her life blood As Milton says,’a good book is the precious life blood of a master spirit’. She wrote it in her death bed in the New York hospital. Here we see the courage and boldness of a heroic mind which looks on the face of death with a rare nonchalance with arresting confidence. In her death there is life. Nanditha is foreever. The moving finger writes and having writ moves on. Mad for each other will ever remain a requiem by the dear departed to her loved ones , that is, the whole humanity

Banks and Share Market! You can either collapse together or rise up with the country altogether!

NV Paulose

The opportunity today is serendipitous! Like a bumper lottery for a struggling family to make both ends meet.

Good news and bad news are always living together but they are like two sides of a coin. When one is up the other one has to be down as much. This is the state of affairs in India Today as far as the future of the nation is concerned. We can choose success or failure whichever we wish. We can do it as a nation or as a person. That’s the leverage that we have today since the House of Commons are represented at a national level.

Leadership is a mixture of good and bad. But the issue with the two is in the liberal attitude of the good and the conservative approach of the bad. While good is willing to get along with everyone, bad is very badly in an attempt to eliminate everything that is good.

A slightly strict approach from the good can make an impact today. All that the good should do is to insist on to everyone to follow the norms for the collective good of everyone. Say for example, banks should take a strict stand not to give loan for buying shares in bulk. Today it is not in anyone’s control about how the stock market is governed and managed. Everyone is doing a bit of this and another bit of that thinking they are playing a very key role in setting things right. But there are bigger bits of many things happening to nullify the bits and bytes of good at every point of time. Situation can go out of control when there are bulk lending from banks in the form of temporary financial lending at higher returns. This is like giving loans to establish brothel networks. Lending has to be monitored on value bases much more than the basis of return on investments.

The country should consciously make sure that there is no role from the banking sector to keep the share market on an upscale when the entire economy is on a continuous downfall. This single act will bring the share market into a realistic paradigm that desperate the stakeholders to do fair play with innovative and large scale expansion initiatives. Or else the entire system has to collapse and scatters.

All that the nation need today is a paradigm shift from investment in negative return to investment in bulk returns. That’s a simple thing. Stop investing on things and start investing on innovative people. Make every innovation into a national collective and make sure innovators are taken into perfect confidence that the national intervention is given an extra leverage on to their revenue streams.

Everything turns to be good overnight when every establishment is involved in this expansion scheme. Plenty of structures can be developed without much additional infrastructure. Let us bank on today’s serendipitous demographic dividend.

Every institution should go for a revenue multiplication model.

every institution including public and private should go for a revenue multiplication model. Naturally, plenty of opportunities also get created for the dynamic people in the society.  This will make our society vibrant and exciting.

Traditional Vs. Modern; Both Vs. Reality

We are living in a complex society. We teach our children in traditional ways. They wish to go for the modern ways. When we check with the winners, we see a totally different story with each one of the winners. No two cases are identical. One common point is there for all winners. All of them had followed their inner imagination. One common principle that we should tell our youngsters is this; Success is not their syllabus. Youth need to go beyond syllabus. Note it down; it is not behind syllabus.

NV Paulose with Malanadu TV

Every human is a unique make. There are talents hidden in every human being. To identify is a real task. We cannot generalise and make a master plan for everyone. Hence, read carefully.

Most of us have two eyes. Have you observed the way our eyes are placed? We cannot see ourselves. To see ourselves, we need to go to a mirror. We become someone else when we are in front of a mirror. We need to depend on others to evaluate ourselves. This is not the issue. The problem is in the social pattern. We are living in a society that is focused on fault finding. This has to change. The total system including the media, administration, legal systems and our social fabric has to undergo a transformation.

The first point that we should understand is very simple. There is no need for someone to fail for the other one to succeed.  We can all become successful helping each one to succeed. This is the primary and ultimate wisdom each individual should attain in today’s world. This page features some of the great people who had helped large number of people to come up in life.

In similar way, institutions and organisations that keep a security check also should rethink. Instead of creating a hazaardes method of screening, each organisation should adopt a welcoming approach. People are not a burden to us. They are the blessing. Welcoming people is the secret of success. Organisations should move from a cost centric approach to a revenue centric approach.

The best example is the Door Darshan and All India Radio. Both establishments went for an expansion programme beyond their four walls. Both establishments are now bringing an unimaginably large sum of money to the exchequer. Taking these examples, every institution should go for a revenue multiplication model. Naturally, plenty of opportunities also get created for the dynamic people in the society.  This will make our society vibrant and exciting.

Just compare our city with an advanced city. List every good things in both. Also list what are unnecessary. We need not bring the unwanted into our system in the name of development.

Target of each one of us is to create an activity that generates revenue and goodwill simultaneously. A hotel that organises home food festivals in the suburbs can increase their revenue and reputation at the very same time. This can create a number of new jobs as well. An autonomous college that associate with rural institutions to offer add on programmes can take it a revenue earner and a turnaround tool.

Identity Crisis! Genuine Interests!!

NV Paulose

NV Paulose with Gopan

History is all rotten with confusions and complications. We need to simplify things so that we are not lost amidst confusions. We have become a society that kills and repents after that when realizing that we have killed our own brother or sister. Let the new year be a resolution that we do things that are going to help humanity to grow peacefully. We take genuine interest to achieve the best possible for everyone with our interventions.

False Identity is a Fall in the future!

We are loosing our future direction when we take up a false identity. Let our fellowmen know who we are so that they can do their best for us. By hiding our identity and projecting a wrong personality, we are creating way for confusions for everyone. Hence, the new year resolution is to be more open and more transparent so that we are understood well by others.

Life is a Bonus in every aspect.

No one in the world is able to know about how to create life when the natural mechanism is absent around. Life is created out of love and that is the fundamental philosophy of human existence and every other existences. Life is invaluable and invariably based on love to one another and love in abundance and in total. Love is unconditional and priceless.

To give back value of life is impossible. To give back a portion of it is also very difficult. All the wealth of the richest person in the world is also not sufficient to create a life that is behind the life. It is now understood that there is collectives, collectiveness and collective consciousness.

BE GOOD. DO GOOD. DO IT TOGETHER.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Pyramid is turned upside down!

Necessity is Mother of Inventions

By Chadurvedi Chandrachud

People have become wiser than ever. Leadership skills are learned automatically without someone administering them on to them in batches. We see people alerted and being fully aware and vigilant and calm. Expectations about others have become minimum and everyone practice vigilance week every week in silence. People gain from sweet bargains and there are occasions even more gain than the normal gain at every set of time. Free birds fly away with freebies and pool them like honeybees to make a collection of nectar to store for future. Beehives are set at far away places so that the greedy cheats never ever come across even at the cross roads that can lead them towards their habitats. All are set amidst gardens of abundance at the ambience of agrilife. Music and songs are all about celebrations and the world outside hear it in the form of crowd cry at larger mishaps.

Be like a Bee!

Many won’t hear it and many can’t hear it. Those who happen to hear it never feel about a need to care for it. Since there is no one to watch them and no one can catch them even when they are Redhanded all the time. Keys are always with them to unlock every riddle around them. To skip and escape is a task very tough to perform in tact. Cities are abandoned while the men are at work there. Heart is left at the treetops at far away villages. Routine are still at the cities but the dreams are built around the nearby villages.

One can only be honest wisely or otherwise or else to gel with others become rough and tough in the surface of faces with full of free drives fast and forward. Fit and the set go hand in hand in abundance and the net inside has to get cut and thrown out in bits of its tiny forms that may not even be visible to get noticed by anyone who is engaged in the games of the wiser among the bystanders around.

The one who are in the games are anyway in the games by all means and they may not much get noticed about the tiny thugs that are trying to block their move. Sometimes the ones who are engaged in things just to trouble the system may also get merged within the system to make it more better and better more again.
