Dr. PP Devan: The Visionary Behind a New Learning Paradigm

By Global TV Editorial Desk

Learning is not a race against time and stress; Dr. PP Devan gives it a thoughtful transformation. The architect behind the upcoming programs by The Phi Beta Society, the legendary Dr. PP Devan is a seasoned academician and a visionary who has meticulously shaped student-centric methodologies over decades of devoted service in education, research, medicine and mentoring.

A Master Mind with a Mission

Dr. PP Devan, Professor at the AJ Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore, is a name synonymous with academic, professional and personal integrity. He is known for innovation in student empowerment. With over three decades of professional and teaching experience, he has always looked beyond traditional classroom boundaries to unlock the full potential of students. His passion for nurturing young minds led him to design and fine-tune unique programs that will transform the way students learn and remember their learnings.

There are two flagship initiatives announced by The Phi Beta Society. One is the brilliant “Learning to Learn” and the other is the Professional Development Series; both bear the hallmark of Dr. PP Devan’s lifelong research into cognitive science, psychology, neuro-linguistic programming, trance formation and career coaching. These are deeply-researched learning ecosystems.

Learning to Learn: The Forgotten Art

Dr. Devan often echoes futurist Alvin Toffler’s profound words; “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.” Through the “Learning to Learn” program, Dr. Devan empowers students with the rarest of 21st-century skills, how to read with focus, retain meaningfully, recall efficiently, and reproduce effectively in exams.

This is not rote memorization; it’s an art form. And Dr. Devan, with his tools developed through neuro-cognitive frameworks and behavioral analytics, equips learners with techniques that enhance long-term memory, improve concentration, and boost confidence. His methods are tried and tested; refined over thousands of student interactions, feedback loops, and data-driven insights.

Professional Development Series: More Than Just Skills

The second program is an equally ambitious venture. Focusing on Professionalism, Communication Skills, Networking, and Career Planning, this series is a direct result of Dr. Devan’s understanding of the real-world gap between academic knowledge and professional preparedness.

In today’s hyper-connected job market, mere academic brilliance is not enough. Dr. Devan introduces students to the world of executive presence, impactful communication, career mapping, and the nuanced art of building professional networks. Each session is layered with practical frameworks, roleplays, and expert models; making the entire experience immersive and transformational.

A Legacy of Meticulous Effort

What truly sets Dr. Devan apart is the rigor and research behind his every move. Whether it is using analytics to fine-tune learning behaviors or drawing from global best practices, his approach is holistic. He draws on psychology, education theory, training models, and his own decades-long practice of mentoring to craft programs that serve students beyond exams; in careers and life.

His quiet charisma, intense research-backed insights, and compassionate mentoring have already changed the lives of thousands. With the Phi Beta Society’s upcoming programs, he is poised to reach even more learners across geographies through digital platforms like Zoom.

An Invitation to Learn from a Master

Both sessions are affordably priced to ensure inclusivity. It is a clear reflection of Dr. Devan’s belief that education should be accessible to all. The nominal fees (Rs. 400 and Rs. 600 respectively) belie the enormous value students will gain.

Dr. PP Devan is not just conducting programs; he is creating pathways to excellence. He is enabling a new generation of learners to become self-aware, self-driven, and future-ready. In a world where education is often transactional, Dr. Devan reminds us that true learning is transformational.

Eyes to the Sky: A Digital-Age Eye Exercise with Flight Watching | Global TV

Optometrists recommend the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

NV Paulose, Chairman, Global TV +91 98441 82044

It was an ordinary evening in Mangalore. The sun was gentle, the clouds scattered, and as I paused between tasks, something glinted in the sky above. A silver speck moved silently. It was an aircraft cruising at high altitude. It was barely visible, but just enough to spark a thought: What if watching flights could be more than a moment of curiosity? What if it could be a daily eye exercise?

We are living in a complex digital world. Our eyes are often fixed on screens. Very rarely we stretch beyond a few feet. Eye strain, fatigue, dryness, and even blurry vision are now familiar companions for many. But nature offers an antidote; an essential remedy to go with the technology on other side.

The Science of Looking Far

Optometrists recommend the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. This gives the tiny muscles inside our eyes; especially the ciliary muscles, a chance to relax and reset. Looking at distant objects reduces tension, lowers eye fatigue, and helps maintain sharper focus.

But here’s where it gets interesting. Unlike staring at a wall or a tree, tracking an aircraft in the sky offers movement, purpose, and mindfulness. It’s a tiny hunt that exercises both the eyes and the mind.

Turning Curiosity into Routine

That day, I pulled out my phone and opened Flightradar24, a flight tracking app that uses live satellite data. Within seconds, I identified the aircraft: an El Al flight en route from Bangkok to Tel Aviv, cruising above Karnataka on its 11 hour journey. I looked back at the sky and smiled. I wasn’t just staring; I was seeing.

Since then, I’ve turned this into a delightful routine. A few times a week, I step outside, stretch, open the app, find a flight overhead, and follow it with my eyes.

The Tools You Need

  • Your Eyes: Preferably well-rested and willing.
  • A Clear Patch of Sky: Even partially cloudy skies work.
  • A Smartphone with a Flight Tracker App: Flightradar24, FlightAware, RadarBox.
  • Curiosity: The more you know, the more fun it becomes.

A Practice Rooted in Awareness

This exercise is about mindful attention, about reconnecting with the world around us, and above us. It’s geography, aviation, and wellness wrapped in a single practice. Think about it: every aircraft has a story. It could be carrying families, businesspeople, or tourists. It could be flying over conflict zones, deserts, or oceans. Every flight is a thread in the global fabric of movement.

Benefits of the Practice

  • Reduces Eye Strain: By shifting focus from near to far.
  • Encourages Outdoor Breaks: Vitamin D and fresh air, anyone?
  • Stimulates Curiosity and Learning: Where’s that flight coming from? What’s its destination?
  • Cultivates Presence: A few minutes of focused looking can be more meditative than scrolling social media.

Tips for New Flight Watchers

  • Best Times: Dawn and dusk often offer better visibility, with sunlight glinting off aircraft bodies.
  • Contrails Help: Look for white trails in the sky, especially during humid weather.
  • Urban vs Rural: Both areas can work, but city skies may be trickier due to tall buildings and light pollution.

A Skybound Invitation

Next time you feel the pull of the screen or the strain in your eyes, just… look up. Open an app, trace a plane, wonder who’s on it. Let your gaze stretch toward the horizon. Let your mind wander into the world of aviation. Let your eyes relax and refocus. Instead of always looking down, maybe it’s time we all looked up.

Valerian Dalmaida at 65: Inspired by a Vision | Sharpening the Axe for the Journey Ahead | Global TV

Valerian Dalmaida redefines relevance by staying rooted | Embracing Life with renewed energy | Age to leverage | Wisdom accumulated through the ears | Global TV

NV Paulose, Chairman, Global TV +91 98441 82044

He has a quiet kind of strength that doesn’t make a noise but makes an impact that goes far beyond its origins. He doesn’t seek applause, yet commands respect. He doesn’t settle into comfort; but prepares for the next challenge. That is the strength that defines Valerian D’Almaida, the one who set fire in the belly further to risk him not to settle down at the glory that he has already achieved.

While many look at his age as a time for winding down, Valerian views it as another bend in the road; just a curve that demands not caution, but clarity. “When many like to relax and rest, he sharpens the axe” by reflecting, retooling, and realigning his vision and action so that he can cut through the noise, the clutter, and the obstacles standing between him and his mission.

What is his mission? Simply put: to build. To build trust, institutions, values, and people. For decades, Valerian D’Almaida has been engaged in efforts that transcend personal gain. Whether it’s guiding teams, nurturing young minds, serving his community, or inspiring silent revolutions through his media actions, he’s always been more than a man; he’s been a powerful yet silent force.

A Man Forged by Challenges

Valerian’s journey hasn’t been without trials. But ask anyone who has watched him work, and they’ll tell you: challenges don’t weaken him; they define him. He meets setbacks not with frustration but with a craftsman’s patience. Like a seasoned Goldsmith, he sees fire as something that transforms.

His leadership style is very different. He doesn’t command from a pedestal; he walks alongside. He doesn’t speak in soundbites; he speaks in sincerity. What truly sets him apart is his ability to listen; even the words unspoken. In a world driven by noise, he tunes them into the realities. He works really hard to earn deep respect and enduring trust to fulfil his mission for spreading truth and love.

Values That Do Not Age

What makes Valerian unique isn’t just his relentless drive or dignified composure. It’s the consistency of his values. At 65, his beliefs remain as strong as ever; perhaps stronger. Honesty, empathy, discipline, and a sense of larger purpose are not slogans for him; they’re non-negotiables. These values are the compass he uses to govern his conduct in a fast-changing world. They’re also the same values he imparts to others; not by preaching, but by simply living them.

He believes that the true test of a person isn’t how loud they speak when the world is watching, but how consistent they remain when no one’s looking. In a time when reinvention often means letting go of old truths, Valerian redefines relevance by staying rooted. Valerian D’Almaida could have easily chosen a quieter life at 65. But he hasn’t. Instead, he’s embracing this phase with renewed energy. He calls this his “age of leverage.” With wisdom accumulated through the years, he now knows what matters most; and how to achieve it more effectively.

He mentors more actively. He works with greater insight. He contributes to causes not just with time, but with strategic thinking. And he still has more to give. His impact isn’t locked in archives or plaques; it lives in people he has mentored. He doesn’t demand excellence; he inspires it. His life is a silent example to everyone who believes in purpose-driven living. Wish him great success and an enduring journey that doesn’t rest in the glory of the past even when it is glorious to cherish.
