“One God; One People: Discovering God’s Script for the Wellbeing of the World” | Let us all grow together | Global TV

Embrace the magnificent world of evolution with prudence, for you have a role to play in the script of the scriptures. Explore this divine narrative through the works of Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany.

By NVP and Albert D’Silva

Spirituality offers us a profound way to engage with God’s creation on Earth, allowing us to witness the unfolding beauty of the world through our own eyes. Instead of worrying about God’s role, we are encouraged to immerse ourselves in the magnificent process of evolution, recognizing that it unfolds according to a divine prescription. Each of us has a unique role to play in this grand script of the scriptures. Therefore, we are urged to fill the spaces within this divine narrative with our names, contributing to the ongoing creation and unfolding of God’s plan for the world.

“Indian Christianity rubs shoulders with Jewish traditions; it is people-centric more than institution-centric.” Yes, that sentence effectively captures the essence of Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany’s exploration of the Jewish roots of the Addai-Mari Anaphora. It highlights the close relationship between Indian Christianity and Jewish traditions, emphasizing the people-centric nature of the Addai-Mari Anaphora and its focus on community rather than institutional structures.

Explore the Jewish Roots of the Addai-Mari Anaphora: Insights from Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany’s Crossing the Temple

Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany wrote Crossing the Temple to explore the Jewish roots of the Addai-Mari Anaphora, a prayer used in some Christian churches. This ancient text is central to the liturgy of the Assyrian Church of the East and the Chaldean Catholic Church. The Metropolitan’s work uncovers how this early Christian prayer connects with ancient Jewish practices.

In the exploration of the Jewish roots of the Addai-Mari Anaphora, Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany unveils a profound connection between Indian Christianity and Jewish traditions. The phrase “One God; One People” encapsulates the essence of this connection, emphasizing the shared monotheistic belief and the unity of purpose between Judaism and Christianity. As the Metropolitan delves into the ancient liturgical text, he invites readers to join in the journey of discovery, seeking God’s script for the wellbeing of the world. In this shared pursuit, the Addai-Mari Anaphora emerges as a testament to the people-centric nature of Indian Christianity, prioritizing community and the collective pursuit of God’s will over institutional structures. Through the Metropolitan’s insightful analysis, the Addai-Mari Anaphora serves not only as a bridge between two ancient traditions but also as a guiding light for contemporary efforts towards global harmony and well-being.

Bridging Faiths: Embracing Shared Values and Interreligious Dialogue

The approach towards other religious traditions, as reflected in Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany’s exploration of the Jewish roots of the Addai-Mari Anaphora, is one of respect, dialogue, and recognition of shared values. The Metropolitan’s works underscore the interconnectedness of religious traditions and highlight the common ground shared by Christianity and Judaism. This approach encourages mutual understanding, cooperation, and appreciation for the diverse ways in which different religious traditions seek to understand and connect with the divine. By recognizing and celebrating these shared values and common goals, The Metropolitan’s works promote interfaith dialogue and cooperation, fostering a spirit of harmony and cooperation among different religious communities.

Background on the Addai-Mari Anaphora

The Addai-Mari Anaphora is an ancient prayer used during the Eucharist. It is named after Addai and Mari, two missionaries who helped spread Christianity. Their prayer is one of the oldest Christian liturgical texts still in use and holds a special place in Christian history for its connection with early Christian communities.

Jewish Roots Explored

The Metropolitan traces the Addai-Mari Anaphora’s strong links to ancient Jewish worship. He notes how early Christians were influenced by Jewish practices, as many were Jewish themselves. He identifies several elements in the Anaphora that mirror Jewish liturgy:

Structure and Themes: The prayer’s structure and themes resemble those in Jewish worship, such as blessings and thanksgiving.

Phrases and Symbols: Some words and symbols used in the Anaphora also appear in Jewish texts, reflecting common religious language.

By comparing the Anaphora with Jewish prayers, The Metropolitan shows how early Christians maintained their Jewish roots while creating new traditions.

Theological Implications

The Metropolitan’s work helps us understand early Christian theology and worship. He shows that early Christians didn’t abandon their Jewish heritage but blended their new faith with their Jewish past. This suggests that Christianity and Judaism share a deep connection, especially in their forms of worship.

The book also raises important questions about how Christian liturgy developed over time. If the Addai-Mari Anaphora has these strong Jewish connections, other Christian liturgies might too. The Metropolitan’s research encourages scholars to explore these connections further.

Critical Analysis

Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany’s research is thorough. He draws from historical texts, theology, and liturgical studies to make his case. His work highlights overlooked details that reveal how deeply connected the Jewish and Christian practices were. Early Christian liturgy is a complex field, and it’s often hard to be precise. His works reflect elaborate studies conducted to reach clear findings.

Crossing the Temple offers a fascinating look at the ancient roots of the Addai-Mari Anaphora. Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany’s work is valuable for anyone interested in early Christian worship. His research bridges the gap between Jewish and Christian practices, showing their shared history. He opens the door for future studies to continue exploring these important connections.

Live authentically, and permit others to do so as well | Our courage becomes contagious | Global TV

Being true to oneself is The Ultimate Triumph

We are living in a confused world. The world is constantly bombarding everyone including the perpetrators and manipulators with expectations, norms, and societal pressures. Even the so-called controllers of the world are running helter-skelter, trying to find a firm place to stand. Fear of failure makes them more ferocious and very fervent in turning their dictations into dictums and doctrines.

Staying true to oneself is an extraordinary feat in today’s world. To be you and just like you is the greatest accomplishment and ultimate aim in life. Let the world constantly attempt to make us something else. It is designed in that way. But we find our greatest strength and deepest fulfillment in embracing our true selves.

The Power of Embracing Individuality

Being true to oneself isn’t just about staying true to who we are; it’s about celebrating what makes us unique. It’s about owning our strengths and weaknesses, preferences, and characteristics. When we embrace our individuality, we honor our authenticity. This authenticity is the foundation of genuine connections and meaningful relationships. Whether it’s in personal or professional spheres, staying true to oneself attracts trust and respect. People are drawn to those who are blatantly themselves, as it gives them permission to do the same.

In a society that often values conventionality over individuality, embracing what makes us unique can be a revolutionary act. It requires courage to resist the pressure to fit in and instead, choose to stand out. However, the rewards of embracing our individuality are immeasurable. When we are true to ourselves, we not only find deeper connections with others but also a greater sense of fulfillment and purpose in our own lives. That is how we are destined to be in the world. All other compromises that we make are the outcomes of our own confusions.

Defying Societal Pressures

Society often imposes rigid standards of beauty, success, and behavior. It dictates how we should look, what we should do for a living, and even whom we should love and live with. And they keep it changing on and off. However, these standards are often unrealistic and unattainable for many. By resisting these pressures and staying true to ourselves, we reclaim our power and define our own paths.

This resistance is not an act of rebellion of any sorts but an assertion of our right to be on ourselves and self-determined. It’s a clear declaration that our worth is not determined by society’s arbitrary standards but by our own values and beliefs.

In a world where we are bombarded with images and messages telling us how we should look, what we should own, and who we should aspire to be, it can be easy to lose sight of our own identity. Each person is inbuilt with a clear roadmap of accomplishments. By resisting societal pressures and being true to oneself only, we can break free from these constraints and live a life that is authentic to us.

Discovering Inner Peace

When we are true to ourselves, we find inner peace. We no longer need to pretend to be someone we’re not or constantly seek validation from others. Instead, we are comfortable in our own skin, content with who we are. This inner peace is invaluable, as it allows us to navigate life’s challenges with grace and resilience. We become less affected by external circumstances and more anchored in our sense of self. Even in the face of adversity, we remain steadfast, knowing that our worth is not dependent on external validation. We are empowered within.

Finding inner peace is not always easy, especially in a world that is constantly pulling us in different directions. However, by being true to ourselves, we can find a sense of calm and contentment that is not easily shaken. Instead of seeking validation from others, we learn to trust ourselves and our own instincts, knowing that we are enough just as we are. Of course, we should hear all that the people are trying to tell us. At times, we should shut our ears to hear our inner voice.

Inspiring Others to Be True to Themselves

Finally, being true to oneself is not just about ourselves; it’s also about inspiring others to do the same. When we live authentically, we give others permission to do so as well. Our courage becomes contagious, encouraging those around us to embrace their true selves and live life on their own terms. In a world where conformity is often prized above all else, being true to oneself is a revolutionary act. It challenges the status quo and paves the way for a more inclusive, accepting society where everyone is free to be themselves. Transparency is a great virtue.

Staying true to oneself is indeed the greatest accomplishment. It requires courage, resilience, and a willingness to defy societal expectations. However, the rewards are immeasurable. By being true to ourselves, we find inner peace, inspire others, and live a life that is authentic to our values and beliefs. We should learn and put efforts to be ourselves. Forget the world that is constantly trying to make us and everyone around us something else. Being ourselves is an accomplishment.

Constructive Practices | Navigating the Thin Line between Corrupt and Constructive Practices | Global TV

There is only a very thin layer between corrupt practices and Constructive practices in the world. Every wealth becomes public wealth in the long run.

Building a Prosperous Nation through Constructive Practices is very important today. When everyone adheres to principles, the entire country prospers. The prevalence of corrupt practices not only undermines societal trust but also hinders the growth of the nation. However, it’s important to recognize that there are ample opportunities for individuals to thrive through ethical and professional means.

People who keep themselves away from the system under the pretext of corruption should join hands with others to encash the opportunities that are open and plenty to explore and share. We should come out of the small world of governance and get into the large world of opportunities. Informality and flexibility are the coins more powerful than Bitcoin today to make people involved in wealth creation.

Recognizing the True Wealth of a Nation

In any society, people are the true wealth. When individuals are given the opportunity to utilize their skills and talents in a constructive manner, the entire nation benefits. Therefore, it is crucial for organizations and institutions to welcome individuals, identify their strengths, and provide them with the necessary support and resources to thrive.

Creating Opportunities for Growth

There are numerous avenues through which individuals can contribute to the growth of the nation without resorting to corrupt practices. By creating opportunities for people to engage in meaningful work, organizations can harness their potential and drive positive change.

Empowering Through Interventions

Various interventions such as Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Appreciative Inquiry (AI), Enneagram, and programs like the Landmark Forum can be instrumental in helping individuals unlock their full potential. These interventions provide individuals with the tools and techniques they need to identify their strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals.

Adding Value to Society

One of the most effective ways to contribute to the nation’s growth is by adding value wherever possible. For example, stepping into the agriculture sector can have a significant impact. Ensuring farmers receive fair prices for their products is an important step that we can easily take up at the local level.

Community Engagement and Social Responsibility

Organizing events such as Fresh Farm Festivals can bring communities together and create opportunities for social and economic development. By bringing people from different villages together, we can foster a sense of community and solidarity while also promoting economic growth.

Monetizing Social Initiatives

Charitable initiatives such as feeding the poor can also have a significant impact on society. By properly monitoring and monetizing these events, we can ensure that all stakeholders benefit. By sharing the revenue generated from these initiatives with all stakeholders, we can create a sustainable model that incentivizes ethical behaviour and promotes the common good.

Building a prosperous nation requires the collective effort of its citizens. By embracing ethical practices, creating opportunities for growth, and fostering a culture of social responsibility, we can create a society where everyone can thrive.

Navigating the Thin Line between Corrupt and Constructive Practices

In the realm of human endeavours, the line between what is corrupt and what is constructive can often appear blurred. The distinction between these two sets of practices is vital, yet the line that separates them is often finer than we might think. Understanding this delicate balance is crucial, as it can have significant implications for individuals, organizations, and society as a whole.

The Gray Area

At first glance, corrupt and constructive practices might seem diametrically opposed. However, upon closer inspection, we find that there exists a gray area where these two categories intersect. In this gray area, actions that might be deemed corrupt could, under certain circumstances, also be viewed as constructive.

Defining Factors

To better understand the distinction between corrupt and constructive practices, it is essential to examine the defining factors that separate the two. Several key factors come into play, including ethics, intent, legality, and impact.

Ethics plays a significant role in determining whether a practice is corrupt or constructive. Actions that prioritize honesty, integrity, and fairness are generally considered constructive, while those that involve deception, exploitation, or dishonesty are often seen as corrupt. However, ethical considerations alone are not always sufficient to make this determination. Intent is also crucial.

Ethical Decision-Making

Given the complexities involved, how can individuals and organizations navigate the thin line between corrupt and constructive practices? The key lies in ethical decision-making. First and foremost, it is essential to consider the ethical implications of one’s actions. This involves reflecting on the potential consequences of a particular course of action and considering whether it aligns with one’s values and principles.

Transparency is also crucial. By being transparent about their actions and intentions, individuals and organizations can help ensure that their practices are seen as constructive rather than corrupt.

Furthermore, it is important to seek input from others and consider multiple perspectives. By soliciting feedback from colleagues, stakeholders, and experts, individuals and organizations can gain valuable insights into the potential ethical implications of their actions.

Finally, it is essential to hold oneself and others accountable for their actions. By establishing clear ethical standards and holding themselves and others accountable for adhering to those standards, individuals and organizations can help ensure that their practices remain constructive rather than corrupt.

The line between corrupt and constructive practices is indeed thin, but it is not insurmountable. By considering factors such as ethics, intent, legality, and impact, individuals and organizations can navigate this line with confidence. By engaging in ethical decision-making, being transparent about their actions and intentions, seeking input from others, and holding themselves and others accountable, they can help ensure that their practices are seen as constructive rather than corrupt. In doing so, they can contribute to a more ethical, fair, and just society for all.

Building a prosperous nation requires the collective effort of its citizens. By embracing ethical practices, creating opportunities for growth, and fostering a culture of social responsibility, we can create a society where everyone can thrive. Let us work together to build a nation where corruption has no place, and where every individual has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

It is high time that we, as a society, take a stand against this blatant misuse of protective laws.

We must demand greater accountability from the media and ensure that allegations of sexual harassment are thoroughly investigated before being sensationalized in the public domain.

Global TV Editorial 4 May 2024

In recent times, we have witnessed an alarming trend in the misuse of protective laws under the guise of truth and justice. One of the most concerning aspects of this misuse is the weaponization of sexual harassment allegations against individuals holding responsible positions, particularly in the political arena.

It is no secret that the media, often referred to as the fourth estate, plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion and holding the powerful accountable. However, it is disheartening to see how easily the media can be manipulated to serve political agendas, sacrificing objectivity and credibility in the process.

Time and again, we have seen reputed personalities being targeted with unsubstantiated allegations of sexual harassment, conveniently timed to coincide with critical political events. These allegations not only tarnish the reputation of the individuals concerned but also undermine the credibility of the law itself.

While it is essential to provide a safe space for victims of harassment to come forward and seek justice, it is equally important to ensure that these laws are not misused for political gain. The misuse of protective laws not only underestimates the suffering of genuine victims but also erodes public trust in the legal system.

Protective laws aimed to empower victims and hold perpetrators accountable, has unfortunately been misused by some people with ulterior agendas as a tool for character assassination and political manipulation. This exploitation of legitimate concerns for personal or political gain is not only unethical but also damaging to the cause of justice.

Furthermore, the consequences of such misuse extend far beyond the immediate individuals involved. They have a chilling effect on public discourse and discourage victims from coming forward, fearing their stories will be dismissed as part of a political vendetta rather than taken seriously.

It is high time that we, as a society, take a stand against this blatant misuse of protective laws. We must demand greater accountability from the media and ensure that allegations of sexual harassment are thoroughly investigated before being sensationalized in the public domain. Failure to do so not only perpetuates injustice but also undermines the very fabric of our democracy.

It is imperative that we uphold the principles of truth and justice without allowing them to be exploited for political gain. Only then can we truly ensure that our legal system remains credible and trustworthy for all. By fostering an environment where allegations are taken seriously, investigated thoroughly, and judged fairly, we can protect both the victims and the accused from undue harm and ensure that justice is served. Before anything; the timing of the allegations and the immediate purpose should be taken into account before taking such allegations into account.

The Evolution from Sensual to Social Pleasures: A Paradigm Shift in Modern Society: Even ordinary people are ordained to it.

In recent years, there has been a noticeable shift in societal trends, with more and more individuals moving away from a focus on sensual pleasures towards a preference for social pleasures. This transition marks a significant evolution in our collective consciousness, reflecting changing priorities and values in modern society.

Traditionally, sensual pleasures have been associated with immediate gratification and individual satisfaction. Whether it be indulging in extravagant meals, luxurious vacations, material possessions, unhealthy practices, or even immoral behaviour, the pursuit of sensual pleasures has often been the cornerstone of many people’s lives. However, in today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, there is a growing realization that true fulfillment and happiness lie beyond the realm of individual experiences.

The rise of social media and digital connectivity has played a pivotal role in this paradigm shift. People are now more connected than ever before, with the ability to engage with others on a global scale instantly. As a result, there has been a gradual reorientation towards social pleasures, emphasizing meaningful connections, shared experiences, and collective well-being.

Instead of seeking fulfillment solely through personal indulgence, individuals are now placing greater value on relationships, community involvement, and social responsibility. Whether it be volunteering for a cause, participating in community events, or simply spending quality time with loved ones, there is a growing recognition that true happiness is found in meaningful connections and shared experiences.

This shift towards social pleasures is not only evident in individual behavior but also in broader societal trends. We are witnessing a rise in social entrepreneurship, sustainable living practices, and a greater emphasis on community-building initiatives. People are increasingly looking beyond their own needs and desires, recognizing the importance of contributing to the greater good and making a positive impact on the world around them.

Moreover, this transition from sensual to social pleasures is not just a personal choice but also a reflection of changing cultural norms and values. As society becomes more interconnected and interdependent, there is a greater emphasis on empathy, compassion, and collective well-being. People are realizing that true happiness is not found in the pursuit of individual pleasure but in the connections we forge with others and the positive impact we make on society as a whole.

The evolution from sensual to social pleasures marks a significant shift in societal values and priorities. As individuals increasingly prioritize meaningful connections, shared experiences, and collective well-being over individual indulgence, we are witnessing a transformation in the way we define happiness and fulfillment. By embracing this shift and prioritizing social connection and community involvement, we can create a more compassionate, empathetic, and inclusive society for all.

Dr. Ashok Hegde | Provide support, encouragement, and positive reinforcement to students, especially during their most challenging moments; Dr. Ashok Hegde

The Power of Encouragement: Insights from Dr. Ashok Hegde, Dean of A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre

By Paul R.

Dr. Ashok Hegde, the esteemed Dean of A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, recently shared profound insights regarding the importance of encouragement and support, especially in the field of education during challenging times. His experiences shed light on the transformative impact of simple acts of kindness and encouragement.

Dr. Hegde recounted the story of a student who struggled with studies. Despite repeated and multiple failed attempts, the student’s determination wavered. Dr. Hegde emphasized the significance and importance of support during these challenging times, highlighting the role of educators and mentors in providing necessary encouragement to students. An empathetic and encouraging conversation had become a lifesaving trajectory for that student.

“One more girl came once,” Dr. Hegde recalled. Although her name eluded him, her story remained vivid. She was on the brink of giving up, but a conversation and supporting words from him as a compassionate mentor saved her. She was a resilient young woman from Kerala who overcame significant personal challenges, including the loss of her father during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite facing such adversity, she persevered and successfully passed her exams. Encouraging words had often turned around sinking ships, providing a lifeline to those in need.

Dr. Hegde emphasized the importance of providing support and encouragement to students during their darkest moments. He recounted the student’s struggles, how she would lock herself away and cry for hours on end. However, she never gave up. Her story serves as a reminder that even in the face of failure and despair, a glimmer of hope and encouragement can make all the difference.

“Many people have failed, but the only thing they need is encouragement,” Dr. Hegde remarked. He stressed the importance of providing support and understanding to students during their times of need. Drawing from his own experiences, Dr. Hegde recalled the profound impact of a teacher’s words of encouragement. “Even if I don’t know anything, something will help,” he said, highlighting the transformative power of simple words of encouragement.

Dr. Hegde also discussed the detrimental impact of negative reinforcement, citing examples from various studies. He recounted studies where students were divided into different batches based on their perceived academic performance. The results were striking, with students’ performance significantly influenced by the image imprinted on their groups or batches. “See how psychologically impactful it can be on the students,” Dr. Hegde remarked.

His insights underscore the importance of providing support, encouragement, and positive reinforcement to students, especially during their most challenging moments. As educators and mentors, it is our responsibility to uplift and inspire our students, helping them realize their full potential and overcome any obstacles they may face. Dr. Hegde’s experiences serve as a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of encouragement and support in the field of education.
