The world of Police and Law Enforcement is an island in many ways. Women often have to fight twice as hard to prove their mettle. ACP Geetha Kulkarni stands as an exception in the force. She fights twenty times harder than her contemporaries. She has no mind to sit back at however big success moments or setbacks in her career.

Instead, she turns them into steps and ladders to climb toward her dreams and passion. Her dreams are far higher compared to where she stands, making us proud of her. You will feel proud to stand on her side and to tell the world that here is a role model for the young girls to look up to.

She is silent at adversities and always smiling. Inside she is vehemently vibrant constantly and all the time. The volcano of determination can erupt at any time within. She is seasoned enough to channel her energy and to draw her boundaries so that the next person will see only her smile even when she facing challenges.   

ACP Geetha Kulkarni is an icon of resilience. Her courage and transformative leadership are contagious. Her presence will make you dynamic. There is plenty of time to rest once we are done; she may say. Her approach is not about breaking barriers or encroaching on the boundaries of anyone’s freedom. Her smile will make an agitating crowd sit back and discuss the whereabouts to address the issues that they were very adamant few minutes before.  

She is more listening and much more imagining. When you talk about problems, she will be thinking about the solutions. And she is a large-scale thinker who will get you solutions right where you stand stunned at the depth of them. We praise her for riding her Tiger bike way back on Bangalore’s busiest roads. And we praise her for the moment and the momentum Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, then honorable President of India called her from afar and held her close to posing for a photograph as a recognition of her great courage, dedication, and contributions to service. Her journey is of perseverance, dedication, and an unwavering commitment.

The Making of a Leader

Geetha’s strength and determination were shaped early in life by her mother. Her mother is a terror, strict yet compassionate.  Mother instilled in her the values of discipline, perseverance, and empathy. Her influence became the bedrock of her character, teaching her that true leadership is about balancing firmness with understanding. Geetha Kulkarni’s journey to become an Assistant Commissioner of Police was far from easy. But she could face them easy. Take it easy policy!

Her initial ambition was to join the defense services. When faced with setbacks, instead of giving up, she redirected her focus to law enforcement. The path was with challenges, from rigorous selection processes to the demanding realities of police work. Yet, her spirit remained unbroken, fuelled by her dream to serve and to make a difference wherever she works and in whatever capacity she works.

Breaking Barriers in the Police Force

When she joined the Police force, field assignments were rarely entrusted to women. Yet she was among the first female officers to step into these demanding roles, shattering stereotypes and creating the way for others. In the early days, many doubted whether women could handle the physically and mentally taxing responsibilities of fieldwork. Geetha Kulkarni proved them wrong.

As a “pilot projector,” she not only took on challenging assignments but excelled in them, demonstrating that women could lead just as effectively as men. Her pioneering efforts inspired other women officers to follow in her footsteps, gradually changing the perception of women in law enforcement.

Over time, the professional landscape began to shift. While many women officers moved toward desk jobs, Geetha Kulkarni remained committed to fieldwork. She believed that true leadership required being on the ground and understanding the realities faced by her team and the public alike. Crowd management is an art for her as simple as she could manage the students in a large classroom. Even this is a challenge today even for toughest amongst the men. Management is an art!

A Transformative Presence on Bangalore’s Roads

Geetha Kulkarni’s work in traffic management is legendary. In the bustling streets of Bangalore on the Residency Road, MG Road, and St. Mark’s Road, she became a familiar figure, riding her Tiger bike and enforcing the law with firmness and fairness. Her presence was not just about discipline but also about connection. She earned the respect of everyone from auto-rickshaw drivers to college students, not through fear, but through her approachable and understanding manner. Smile took her miles ahead in her mission.

Her innovative approach to traffic management brought tangible improvements handy for her. From relocating bus stands to streamlining traffic flow at critical junctions, Geetha Kulkarni’s initiatives were both practical and visionary. She introduced separate lanes for private and KSRTC buses at the famous state bank in Mangalore, enforced stricter regulations for auto-rickshaws, and championed sustainable solutions for urban traffic challenges in all dimensions. Her approach made traffic so very smooth through and through at every point in Mangalore.

Recognized by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

One of the most significant milestones in Geetha Kulkarni’s career was her close interaction with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Her strategic thinking and innovative approaches caught the attention of the then President. It was in the year 2006 during Dr. Kalam’s visit to Bangalore to attend the National Women’s Convention. He had personally come forward and congratulated her on her work. That moment was not just a recognition of her abilities but a testimony to the impact of her contributions.

Leadership Rooted in Empathy

What truly sets Geetha Kulkarni apart is her empathy and compassion for people of all streams of life. She is approachable at ease. She is seen on the road even in the bustling sun or waking up Sun. Whether it was handling accidents or supporting grieving families, Geetha Kulkarni ensured that every situation was addressed well and persons were handled with dignity and respect.

NCC (National Cadet Corps) played a significant role in shaping Madam Geetha Kulkarni’s future during her school days, particularly in the area of shooting. Through her involvement in NCC, Madam Geetha not only developed her shooting skills but also gained discipline, confidence, and leadership qualities that are essential in both her personal and professional life.

The training provided by NCC included rigorous practice sessions, safety protocols, and competitions, which helped Madam Geetha hone her precision and focus. These experiences not only improved her shooting abilities but also instilled a sense of camaraderie and teamwork among her peers. The supportive environment of NCC encouraged her to push her limits and strive for excellence.

കൂട്ടുകാരൻ സൈക്കിളിൽ സ്കൂളിൽ വരുന്നത് നോക്കിനിന്ന ഒരു കാലമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ആ സൈക്കിളിൽ ഒന്ന് കയറിയിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ എന്ന് അവൻ എത്രയോ വട്ടം ആശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഒരിക്കൽ ചോദിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. രാവിലെ സ്കൂളിൽ വരാനും ഉച്ചക്ക് ഊണ് കഴിക്കാൻ പോകാനും വൈകീട്ട് വീട്ടിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോകാനും ആവശ്യമുള്ളത്രയും ബ്രെയ്ക്ക് മാത്രമേ സൈക്കിളിൽ ഉള്ളൂ എന്ന് അന്ന് സുഹൃത്ത് പറഞ്ഞത് ഇന്നോർക്കുമ്പോൾ സജി പുതുമനയുടെ മുഖത്ത് അറിയാതെ ചിരി പടരും.

പിന്നീട് സ്വന്തമായി ഒരു ട്രക്ക് വാങ്ങാൻ ഭാഗ്യമുണ്ടായി. അതിനോടകം ബന്ധുവിൻ്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ ഡ്രൈവിങ് പഠിച്ചു. ദീർഘകാലം അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ സഹായിയായി തുടർന്ന ശേഷം സ്വന്തമായി ട്രക്ക് കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യാം എന്ന നില വന്നു. അപ്പോഴാണ് സ്വന്തമായി ട്രക്ക് വാങ്ങിയത്. ആദ്യ മൂലധനം അൻപതിനായിരം രൂപ. ബാക്കി തുക ബാങ്കിൽ നിന്നും വായ്പ്പയെടുത്തു.

ഒരു ട്രക്ക് നിറയെ സ്വപ്നങ്ങളുമായി നിരത്തിലിറങ്ങിയപ്പോഴാണ് സംഗതികളുടെ കാര്യഗൗരവം സജിക്ക് മനസ്സിലാകാൻ തുടങ്ങിയത്. ഇത് അത്ര സുഗമമായ കാര്യമല്ലെന്ന് മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ അധിക നാൾ വേണ്ടി വന്നില്ല. കയ്യൂക്കുള്ളവൻ കാര്യക്കാരൻ ആകുന്ന ഒരു സംഘർഷ ലോകത്താണ് താൻ എത്തിപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത് എന്നറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ മനസ്സിൽ വെള്ളിടി വെട്ടി. നേരെ വാ നേരെ പോ എന്ന രീതി നടക്കുന്ന ലോകത്തല്ല താൻ വന്നുപെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന തിരിച്ചറിവ് വലിയൊരു ആഘാതമായി കുറേക്കാലം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വേട്ടയാടി. എങ്ങിനെയും തലയൂരി രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടാൽ മതിയെന്നായി.

തൻ്റെ സ്വപനങ്ങളെല്ലാം നിറച്ച ട്രക്ക് കിട്ടിയവിലക്ക് വിറ്റ് എങ്ങിനെയോ തലയൂരിയപ്പോൾ എന്തൊരാശ്വാസമായിരുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ ആദ്യ റൗണ്ടിൽ മനസ്സ് നിറയെ മുറിവുകളുമായി ട്രാക്ക്‌ വിട്ടിറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ ഇനിയൊരു തിരിച്ചുവരവ് ഒരിക്കലുമില്ല എന്ന് ചിന്തിച്ചുറപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. പക്ഷെ ദൈവത്തിൻ്റെ പദ്ധതി എത്രയോ വലുതായിരുന്നു.

കാച്ചവെള്ളത്തിൽ ചാടിയ പൂച്ച പച്ചവെള്ളം കണ്ടാലും പേടിക്കും എന്ന് നമ്മുക്ക് എല്ലാവർക്കും അറിയാം. ട്രക്കുകളുടെ ലോകം എല്ലാം എല്ലായിടത്തും ഒരുപോലെ തന്നെ എന്ന് വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്ന സജിയുടെ ധാരണ തിരുത്തുന്നതായിരുന്നു പിന്നീടങ്ങോട്ടുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ യാത്രകൾ.

തൻ്റെ സേവനമികവും സത്യസന്ധതയുമെല്ലാം എല്ലാ മേഖലകളിലും വിലമതിക്കപ്പെട്ടതായിരു ന്നെന്ന് ഏറെ താമസിയാതെ സജി തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു. കമ്പനികൾക്ക് പെട്രൊൾ അടക്കം നിരവധി ഉത്പന്നങ്ങളുടെ വിതരണരംഗത്ത് സേവനം നൽകുന്നതിന് വേണ്ടി ധാരാളം ട്രക്കുകൾ നിരത്തിലിറക്കുന്നു ഇന്ന് സജിയുടെ ത്രീ കിങ്‌സ്. ചിട്ടയായ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളും മാന്യമായ പെരുമാറ്റവും കൃത്യനിഷ്ഠയും പ്രവർത്തനമികവും എല്ലാം വലിയ നേട്ടങ്ങളായി പരിണമിച്ചു.

നിരവധി അവസരങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ തേടിയെത്തി. സാങ്കേതികരംഗ ത്തുണ്ടായ കുതിച്ചുചാട്ടവും നിരവധി കോർപറേറ്റ് സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളുടെ അംഗീകാരവും കൂടിച്ചേർന്നപ്പോൾ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ ഉടനീളം സഞ്ചരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കുന്ന നിരവധി ട്രക്കുകളുടെ ഒരു ശൃംഖല തന്നെ സൃഷ്ടിക്കു വാൻ സജി പുതുമനക്ക് സാധിച്ചു.

തൻ്റെ സേവനമികവും സത്യസന്ധതയുമെല്ലാം എല്ലാ മേഖലകളിലും വിലമ തിക്കപ്പെട്ടതായിരുന്നെന്ന് ഏറെ താമസിയാതെ സജി തിരിച്ചറി ഞ്ഞു.

എൺപതിലധികം ട്രക്കുകളാണ് ഇന്ന് ത്രീ കിങ്സിന് സ്വന്തമായിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഇതിനു പുറമെ മറ്റു വ്യക്തികൾ ട്രക്കുകൾ വാങ്ങി ത്രീ കിങ്സിൻ്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ അവ വിജയകരമായി പ്രവർത്തിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

സജിയുടെ കയ്യിൽ രണ്ട് ഫോണുകൾ എപ്പോഴും ഉണ്ടാകും. ഫോണുകൾക്ക് ഒരിക്കലും വിശ്രമമില്ല. എങ്കിലും അവക്ക് സജിയോട് ഒരു പിണക്കവുമില്ല. തങ്ങളിലൂടെ എപ്പോഴും നല്ലവാക്കുകൾ മാത്രം പറയുകയും നല്ല കാര്യങ്ങൾ മാത്രം ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന സജിയോട് അവ എങ്ങനെ പിണങ്ങാനാണ്? രാവിലെ സജി ഉണരുന്നതോടെ അവയും ഉണരും. കുളിച്ചൊരുങ്ങി പള്ളിയിൽ പോകുന്ന സജിയോടൊപ്പം ഫോണുകളുമുണ്ടാകും.

സജി പള്ളിയിൽ കയറുമ്പോൾ താഴെ പാർക്കിങ്ങിലായിരിക്കുന്ന കാറിൽ ഫോണുകൾക്കല്പം വിശ്രമം. പക്ഷെ ആരൊക്കെ വിളിച്ചു എന്ന് സജി വരുമ്പോൾ തന്നെ അവ പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കും. സജിയുടെ ഒരു ദിവസം അവിടെ തുടങ്ങുകയായി. പോക്കറ്റിൽ കരുതിയ ഒരു പേപ്പറിൽ ഒരു സ്ഥാപനത്തിൻ്റെ ഹൃദയത്തു ടിപ്പുകൾ ഒരു ഇ സി ജി റിപ്പോർട്ട് പോലെ അദ്ദേഹം എഴുതിക്കിച്ചേർക്കും.

മനുഷ്യ ബന്ധങ്ങൾ വളർത്തുന്നത് ഇനിയും ഇന്ത്യയിൽ ഒരു തൊഴിൽ അവസരമായി വളർന്നിട്ടില്ല | ഗ്ലോബൽ ടി വി

The 277th program of Mandd Sobhann’s Monthly Theatre Series, held at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar, on January 5, captivated the packed audience with an unforgettable musical performance by nine-year-old singing sensation Alani D’Souza. The young artist enchanted the crowd with her impressive rendition of nine songs, showcasing her remarkable talent and passion for music.

The evening began with an unveiling ceremony by Ronald Mendonca, the Chairman of Kalaangann, who revealed the banner for the upcoming Konkani play ‘Sardar Simanv,’ a production by Mandd Sobhann’s drama team, which will mark the organization’s Silver Jubilee celebrations.

Eric Ozario, Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann, then presented Alani with the ‘Gumatt’ (a traditional Konkani musical instrument), encouraging her to carry forward the rich legacy of Konkani music. Ozario also wished her success in her musical journey. Dubai-based businessman and philanthropist Vijay D’Souza had the honor of inaugurating the event by ringing the bell, setting the stage for a spectacular evening.

The stage was graced by several distinguished guests, including Mandd Sobhann office bearers Louis J Pinto, Keron Madtha, and Arun Raj Rodrigues, Viddu Uchil, and Vikas Kalakul, representing the Mandd Drama team.

Alani’s performance was the highlight of the evening. The talented young singer, accompanied by the Blue Angels Choir, captivated the audience with songs written and composed by some of the most renowned names in Konkani music, including Chafra Dcosta, Wilfy Rebimbus, Claude D’Souza, Chris Perry, Eric Ozario, Melwin Peris, and Lloyd Rego.

The performance was supported by a stellar band of musicians, led by Music Director Mavish. The band included Sachin Sequeira on drums, Jason D’Souza on lead guitar, Ashwin Correa on bass guitar, Shawn Braslin on violin, and Ashwil Colaco on keyboard. The collaboration between Alani and the talented musicians brought the audience to their feet with their dynamic and energetic performance.

Alani was trained by Shilpa Cutinha, who has played a key role in nurturing the young artist’s talent. Young singer Arvin Dcunha also joined in the performance, further enhancing the musical magic of the night. The event was beautifully compered by Roshan Kulshekar, alongside children Sanjana Mathias, Angel Cutinha, Anika D’Souza, and Shannon Dcosta, who added a youthful flair to the proceedings.
