Tushar Gandhi to Speak at History Seminar in Kozhikode on April 25 | Global TV

Kozhikode, Kerala – April 19, 2025:

The legacy of Mahatma Gandhi will find a powerful voice in Kozhikode this Friday as noted author and great-grandson of the Mahatma, Tushar Gandhi, joins an illustrious panel at a day-long History Seminar hosted by the District Congress Committee (DCC), Kozhikode. The seminar, which begins at 10:00 AM on April 25, 2025, will be held at the newly inaugurated K. Karunakaran Memorial Building, also known as the Loader K. Karunakaran Mandiram, in the Oommen Chandy Auditorium. Entrance is free, and the event is open to the public.

Tushar Gandhi will also be inaugurating the Gandhi Study Circle, a new research initiative launched by the District Congress Committee, Kozhikode. The study circle is envisioned as a platform to promote in-depth exploration of Gandhian values, socio-political thought, and their relevance in contemporary India. It aims to encourage academic engagement, dialogue, and youth involvement in the preservation and application of Gandhian philosophy.

Joining Tushar Gandhi on the panel are several prominent figures from Kerala’s socio-political and academic landscape, including:

Sri. Ramesh Chennithala, senior Congress leader and former Kerala Opposition Leader

Dr. Abdussamad Samadani, Member of Parliament and noted scholar

Sri. K. E. Ismail, senior leader and social thinker

Sri. Hameed Chennamangaloor, distinguished columnist and public intellectual

The seminar is part of a broader month-long celebration (April 6 – May 5) commemorating the inauguration of the K. Karunakaran Memorial Building, a space dedicated to political, cultural, and historical engagement in the Malabar region.

Speaking about the seminar, a DCC spokesperson said, “This event is a tribute not only to the memory of K. Karunakaran but also to the enduring ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, whose principles continue to guide our democratic journey. We are honored to host Tushar Gandhi, whose writings and public interventions carry forward Bapu’s vision in today’s complex world.”

Tushar Gandhi, known for his bold and thoughtful commentary on present-day challenges, is expected to reflect on the importance of historical truth, non-violence, and inclusive nation-building in his address.
