BENDUR, July 5: The Vana Mahotsava programme organised by the Environment Commission of St. Sebastian Church, Bendur, in collaboration with the Catholic Sabha and Catholic Action League, is currently underway with enthusiastic participation from parishioners and local residents. The initiative aims to encourage the planting of fruit-bearing trees to enhance the city’s green cover and create a habitat that attracts birds back to the area. The campaign is being held under the theme, “Grow Fruit Trees, Get the Birds Back,” promoting environmental conservation through community involvement.
Families, children and volunteers are actively taking part in the tree-planting drive, reflecting the campaign’s message, “Plant a Tree, Plant Hope, Plant for Our Future.” Organisers said the programme seeks to inspire long-term environmental responsibility while contributing to a greener and more sustainable Mangaluru. The event continues to witness strong community support, reinforcing the importance of collective action in protecting nature for future generations.
