Mumbai, June 2026 — The Rotary Club of Organ Donation International (RCODI) conferred its highest individual honour, Rotarian of the Year, upon Rotarian Lal Goel, Founder & Charter President, during the Club’s glittering Dhanayawad – Thanksgiving & Award Ceremony held online. The award was presented by Inspire President Rotarian PHF Ritika Gupta in recognition of Rotarian Lal Goel’s outstanding leadership and lifelong dedication to promoting organ donation awareness across India.
The Citation
Rotarian Lal Goel, Founder & Charter President of RCODI, is the visionary force behind the Club’s organ donation movement. For him, organ donation is not merely a cause but a lifelong mission pursued with unwavering passion, relentless dedication, and selfless commitment.
Over the years, he has devoted countless hours to creating awareness, inspiring action, and building a legacy of hope through organ donation. His perseverance in overcoming challenges and his steadfast belief in the cause have inspired members across the Rotary family to serve with greater purpose and commitment.
Through his vision and determination, he has helped elevate organ donation awareness to new heights, earning recognition for the cause at local, national, and international levels. His leadership is reflected not only in achievements and milestones but also in the lives touched, minds inspired, and lasting impact created through his efforts.
Acceptance Speech
Accepting the award, Rtn. Lal Goel dedicated the honour to organ donors and their families, describing them as the true heroes of the organ donation movement. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to all Club members, emphasising that the recognition belonged to the entire RCODI family.
He also thanked Inspire President Rotarian PHF Ritika Gupta and Inspire Secretary Rotarian Ruby Agarwal for their unwavering support and commitment throughout the year. Concluding his address, he encouraged members and well-wishers to join the Organ Donation Warriors Programme, scheduled for its national launch on 2nd July 2026.

Indian Cartoonists on Tibet (1950 to 2025) is a remarkable testament to this enduring power of visual storytelling. Published by Friends of Tibet Foundation and The Alcove Publishers, the book is much more than a collection of cartoons. It is a visual chronicle of seventy five years of political history, moral reflection and artistic courage.
The volume brings together the works of some of India’s finest cartoonists whose pens have followed the story of Tibet from the Chinese occupation and the Dalai Lama’s exile to changing India China relations and the continuing aspirations of the Tibetan people. Through satire, wit and poignant imagery, these artists have documented one of the most important geopolitical and humanitarian issues of modern Asia.
What makes this book exceptional is its ability to present history through the eyes of artists who were not merely observers but also commentators and, at times, the conscience of society. Every cartoon asks difficult questions about freedom, justice, diplomacy and moral responsibility. Each drawing reminds readers that the Tibet issue is not a distant historical episode but a subject deeply connected to India’s own political and strategic journey.
The publication has already attracted the attention of notable personalities. One memorable occasion saw celebrated cartoonist Suku Yesudasan present a copy of the book to Tushar Gandhi, the author and great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi. The meeting symbolized the coming together of two powerful traditions: the Gandhian commitment to truth and non violence and the cartoonist’s role in speaking truth to power.
Another significant moment was the presentation of the book to Claude Arpi, the distinguished French born author and Tibetologist who contributed the narrative to the volume. St. Theresa’s School conducted an Orientation Programme for the parents of Kindergarten students on 20th June 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in the Msgr. Raymond Auditorium, marking the beginning of a fruitful partnership between the school and parents in nurturing the holistic development of young learners.
The programme commenced with a prayer service seeking God’s blessings, led by Mrs. Priya and Mrs. Jesney. Mrs. Lidwin extended a warm welcome to the gathering, while Mrs. Seema gracefully compered the programme. Addressing the parents, the Principal, Sr. Lourdes, familiarised them with the rules and regulations of the school and emphasised the importance of positive parenting and a value-based family culture. She urged parents to speak positively about the school in the presence of their children so that they develop a healthy attitude towards learning.
Highlighting the need to nurture values from an early age, she stressed the importance of raising children who are sensitive, disciplined, humble and respectful towards others. She also encouraged parents to help children accept correction with love and understanding and to work hand in hand with the school in shaping responsible and compassionate individuals.
Mrs. Roshni introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. Rohan S. Monis – Chief Administrative Officer of Kanachur Medical College & an advocate for CPR & Organ Donation.
In his insightful address, Dr. Monis spoke on various aspects of purposeful parenting, schooling, children’s emotional scaffolding and behaviour. He highlighted the vital role of parental love with right communication & emotional support and healthy family relationships in a child’s overall mind development.
Speaking on “Learning Happens as a Rhythm,” he stressed the importance of creating a natural and balanced rhythm in a child’s life through adequate rest, movement, communication, limited screen time, structured routines, creating boundaries and ensuring proper mental and physical nourishment.
Exploring the fact “Treat Your Child as a Little Adult,” he encouraged parents to communicate with children respectfully through clear explanations, meaningful choices, validation of their emotions and collaborative conflict resolution. Emphasising the need for emotional bonding & setting up boundaries.
He spoke on “The Power of the Kissing Embrace,” urging parents, especially fathers, to express affection openly and create a loving environment for their children; by breaking the no touch technique that most of them were brought up with. He wished the Fathers an ‘Happy Early Father’s Day’ too.

An interactive session followed, during which parents actively participated and had their queries and concerns addressed by Sr. Lourdes and Mrs. Gladys.
The programme concluded with the National Anthem, heralding the successful beginning of a collaborative journey between the school and parents in fostering the all-round growth and development of every child.
ROTARIAN LAL GOEL ADDRESSES ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS ON AKASHVANI MATHURA
Mathura, 19 June 2026: Rotarian Lal Goel, Founder & Charter President of the Rotary Club of Organ Donation International (RCODI) and Chairman of the Organ Donation India Foundation & GYAN, was featured in a special interview on Akashvani (All India Radio), Mathura, to promote the noble cause of organ donation.
The programme, titled “Angdaan – Mahadaan” (The Supreme Gift — The Greatest Act of Giving), was conducted by Mr Om Prakash Singh, Programme Head, Akashvani Mathura, at the All India Radio studios in Mathura.
During the engaging discussion, Rotarian Lal Goel highlighted the life-saving impact of organ donation, the present status of organ transplantation in India, and the challenges that continue to hinder the growth of deceased organ donation. He emphasised the urgent need for greater public awareness, timely identification of brain-death cases, and stronger community participation to bridge the gap between the demand for and availability of organs.
Sharing his vision for the future, Rotarian Lal Goel called upon citizens to pledge their organs and become organ donation warriors of this humanitarian movement, noting that a single organ donor can save up to nine lives and offer hope to countless families.
Also present on the occasion were Rotarian PHF Deepak Goel, TRF Chair (2026–27), and Mr Satyavrat Singh, Programme Head, Doordarshan Mathura.
The programme served as a meaningful step towards encouraging informed conversations and inspiring more people to embrace organ donation as the ultimate gift of life, reaching thousands of listeners across the Mathura-Vrindavan region.
